We're leaving in less than two weeks for our trip, and have added an Orlando family member to our lunch at Epcot's Akershus lunch. I called and asked if we could add one more to our table of 7, and they told me no way; tried for another day or time, but couldn't work it into our schedule. Do you think we might be able to pull it off? Three of the party are little kids; one could sit on my lap if necessary. I guess Dh could skip out on the princess experience, but we would rather have him there.

What do you think are our chances at this restaurant? I've added to my party at the restaurant no problem at Hollywood & Vine.

Thanks!

Hi,

One thing you might try is calling back and speaking with a different CM. That sometimes works for me!

I find it strange that they wouldn't accommodate an existing reservation
for 7 to extend it to 8. All the tables serve even groups. A 4-top table
reserved for 3 people can seat 4. Usually there's difficulty adding people
when you have the existing ressie with even numbers adding to an odd
number.

I'm really surprised they wouldn't allow you to do this. I'd call back and
explain the situation to someone with more than half a brain.

Well, I called back and got someone with about half a brain. They said that the only way I could change the reservation was to delete the high chair and add an adult; they said we would just have to try and squeeze the baby in there some how. ??? I thought it odd that the table could only seat 7. But that is what 3 CMs have told me so far. I guess we'll see what happens when we get there. The baby can sit in my lap if we have to. At least they are expecting the right number of adults now.

Thank you for your suggestions!

I would stick with the ADR. Sometimes things work out . Many of times we were told my dining cm's we would be sat at two tables and everytime at the restuarant we were put at one. maybe you got a table for 6 with a high chair and instead they will put a chair there so you have to hold the baby.

sorry about that what was I thinking you already have 7 and want to add 1. I can't see a table fitting 7 not 8 it is usually an even amount.

I actually had to do the same thing this past week for our June trip. Like you, I didn't think there would be a problem to add 1 more to the existing ADR for 7 & change it to 8. No,no,no.....she had to check availability for a party of 8, & setup a new ADR for us. Luckily, there was a spot & it was only a 10 minute difference between the 2 ADRs for a breakfast. Correct me if I'm wrong, but a party of 7 would be seated at a table that would fit 8, right?:confused3 The person I spoke with was very nice & that did help the situation greatly!

Does not make sense to me. I'd try a few mroe times to switch from 7 to 8, but if they can't do it, I'd just show up and play confused.

Generally you have to sit a party of 7 at a table that will seat 8, so I don't see a problem. (Going from even to odd can be difficult -- say form 2 to 3 because a table only fits 2 or 4 to 5 because the table would only fit 4 --- but 7 to 8 should NOT be a problem.

And the baby thing should not matter because they should not have squeezed in a party of 7 -- 6 plus a high chair -- at a table for 6. A high chair squeezed in somewhere is dangerous, so if your party was for 7, including the baby they should have you at an 8 top.

If they can't fix it over the phone, I honestly think it wouldn't be a problem at the restaurant. And if anyone is annoyed with you, I'd just be like, 'Oh I don't know what happened. It must be a mix up, it's 7 plus a baby...'

No flames from anyone please -- I am a very honest person (new mug each trip, 2 during one trip if we stay at 2 different hotels -- no pool hopping -- no age lying -- right hotel for our party size, etc, etc...) BUT if I tried to fix it in advance and couldn't get a CM who was able to help me, knowing that a party of 7 sits at the same size table as a party of 8, I would be willing to act a little bewildered and hope for the best!! (Not at the Biergarten though since they group seat...) ANd I wouldn't ay that if you were going from even to odd, but odd to even should work -- I've worked in restaraunts and I don't see why it wouldn't (maybe not on the computer screen, but in person...)

Anyhow, good luck to you and your party!
