We are going for DH's birthday, I want to surprise him!!!!
I don't know much about V & A's.....have never eaten there so any input about what we should expect would be appreciated!!!! One specific question I have is: How many courses are served during the meal?
Thanks.....:flower3:

My dh and I have been there twice (pre-kids!) and LOVED it both times. I was made to feel so special by the staff and the food was delicious!

ENJOY!!

An amuse-bouche, also called an amuse-gueule, is a single, bite-sized hors d’œuvre. Amuse-bouche are different from appetizers in that they are not ordered from a menu by patrons, but, when served, are according to the chef's selection alone. These, often accompanied by a complementing wine, are served as an excitement of taste buds to both prepare the guest for the meal and to offer a glimpse into the chef's approach to cooking.

Excellent, thanks......that sounds fabulous:love:
Another question....does anyone recommend the wine pairing with the courses or just to order a bottle of wine with dinner????

The wine pairing is great. No need to consider ahead of time what you are eating before you select a bottle of wine that will go with all of it. With the pairing, each course gets a wine specially selected to complement it.

amuse bouche are generally something very fancy and have exotic flavors but small. They are as mentioned a taste bud tease.

At V&A expect to see game animals, high end beef, pork or chicken along with seafood prepared in unique manners with exotic accompaniments.

There are several other sites that have reviews but there are very comprehensive ones here just use the search function and get fired up.

1 tip I would give is too ask the waiter to explain how things you are unfamiliar with taste, they are really into food there and love to help.Take your time and enjoy.

We ate at V&As on Thanksgiving and it was one of the best meals we've ever had. Certainly the best dining experience in Disney. The six courses are generally small but you won't leave hungry. We had the wine pairings with each of our courses. My favorite was the butternut squash and pumkin soup.
You are in for a very romantic treat.

We are thinking of going in May. I know it's pricey but I am how pricey. We would be drinking wine so would that make it around 300? Just DH and I

Thanks

The price in the main dining room is $125 per guest plus $60 for wine pairings. Tax and gratuity is extra.

If you have an annual pass or are a Florida resident, it is worth seriously considering the Tables in Wonderland/DDE card if you're dining at Victoria & Albert's. You get 20% off your meal and wine pairing when dining in the regular dining room. (TiW/DDE discount is not available at the Chef's Table)

A dinner for two + one wine pairing essentially pays for the DDE.

If you even remotely like wine, you should DEFINITELY do the wine pairings. BE AWARE that this is a lot of wine and your server will refill your glass!!! I was DRUNK every time....3 times and counting!!!

Also, if you have the cash and LOVE beef, I recommend the Wagyu or the Kobe selections. BOTH WONDERFUL.

Favorite dessert unless you are a chocolate or die person: Carmelized Banana Gateau. It is almost always on the menu and it is GREAT.

DH and I have always wanted to try Kobe beef.......I hope they have it when we are there.....I am sooooo excited to try it.....I will probably do the wine pairing too because I love wine!!!!:rotfl:

Also CHESHIRE FIGMENT I checked out the V & A menu you posted......thank you...:flower3: it really looks FABULOUS!!!!

I would love to try V&A but I don't eat any seafood - is it still worth it?

There are several choices for each course - you shouldn't have any problem finding something to eat. You might want to check this menu here on the DIS. Even though its a bit old, you get the idea of what your choices would be.

They are also good about substitutions. I liked a pinot noir they had listed with a different selection than the one I had, but I was able to have it with the course I chose.

Also, I have friends who don't necessarily want meat, so they picked two items from the pre-entree courses. One for that course, and the second was their "entree". I haven't reviewed my meal there from October, but I'll eventually have a review and photos, along with the full menu we had to choose from.

I didn't get drunk from the wine pairings, though. I don't seem to recall getting refills in the main dining room, but I do remember getting refills when I did the Chef's Table.
