Madame Leota's Crystal Ball October 2024 Exercise Thread

Congratulations to Twilight Sparkle for being the first to reach Prognostication Purple!

Another announcement at D23 this year was the addition of a Monsters Inc. land at DHS! It's going to feature the first suspended coaster at a Disney park, which apparently involves riding doors like in the movie. Work is scheduled to start next year.

Here's the question--where is this land going to go? Are you betting on the Animation Courtyard area, or in the Muppets area? Here's a discussion with some aerial views.

My injured baby gets to be turned out for 3 weeks of freedom this evening. He's still healing, but at least he no longer has to be confined. I can start riding him a little bit after those 3 weeks are up, gradually building up his strength (and probably mine!) again over time. Honestly, I am a little nervous he will reinjure himself, but I know being free is better than staying up all the time. He has been amazingly wonderful through all of this. He's such a good boy!

I don't know how accurate this is, but I saw this today and thought it was interesting:

I hope it goes in Animation Courtyard. I'm excited about the coaster!

60 minutes at the gym yesterday. Since we won't be out of town, I booked myself some time with a personal trainer next week. There's no way a 60 minute session can add up to walking 8 to 10 miles a day like I do at Disney, but it'll get my minutes in. :)

It was a rough week, too. I'm having a hard time shaking this cold and Charles has been keeping me up at night so I'm exhausted too! Of course my problems are nothing compared to those who were battered by the hurricanes. All in all, crappy vibes for the week on my part. I managed to get 180 minutes from walking and yoga and a little bit of exercise bike.

Congratulations to PollyannaMom, Raya, and ShannyMcB for turning Onward Orange, and to Elizabeth Smith for turning Prognostication Purple! The TEAM stands at 40.9% for the month.

Looking at Animal Kingdom, Disney has announced a reimagining of Dinoland USA, into Tropical Americas. Dinosaur will be retimed to an Indiana Jones ride, though it will have a different storyline than other Indy rides. The land will also include another ride themed to Encanto, as well as a carousel with animals from Disney stories. Construction will start soon, but the land will not be complete until 2027.

In addition, there will be a new show in the Tree of Life theater, this one based on Zootopia. It is expected to open next year.

I especially enjoyed the last one! :P

Here’s something new that will be coming in the next couple of weeks: Disney Lightning Lane Premier Pass. For a (hefty) additional fee, it will get you in to every LL once on that day, without prescheduling.

This is something I won’t likely be doing, at least not at DL. We don’t ride many of the LL rides anyway, and have always been able to ride most of what we like with regular LLs. For $400 (!!) I could add two park days and have plenty of time to ride what we like.

I'm deeply on the fence about LLPP. We did a VIP tour (2 people, 8 hours, $3200 + 200 tip) for my 40th birthday. It was a magical once-in-lifetime experience that I immediately wanted to repeat. In 8 hours we did every single ride I wanted to do, got backstage, learned a ton of fun information, and when our tour guide heard I'd never had one, he bought me my first Mickey bar. The LLPP would be 1/3 of that cost for our family. Which pushes me to either do another VIP tour or do something like an After Hours event. Now if Disney ever made that a Club Level perk, it would make me to go Club Level even though I said never on that option. (We got a free CL upgrade once and were underwhelmed).

20 minutes walking on Wednesday, and 60 minutes at the gym yesterday.

We did a VIP tour at WDW for a milestone birthday a few years ago. Super fun -- all four parks, darting in and out of back entrances and CM areas. Don't regret that at all, but unlikely to do it again unless we have a group to split the cost (which, come to think of it, might be comparable to prices for LLPP if you get a group of 10).

I'm on a rollercoaster of emotion. I finally made a full recovery from my cold, but then Jacob caught it. Then Charles got an ear infection. Sleep has been inconsistent at best. But! We made it out to a pumpkin patch this weekend and rode a hayride and we watched some spooky movies and generally are trying to make the best of things. I have 245 minutes since my last update. Mostly all from walks outside in the nice fall-ish weather!

Saturday was a gym day - 60 minutes. Then yesterday was our local "boo at the zoo" Y'all.... I am gonna need someone from the Zoo to look at how Disney does it. Their event was a nothing compared to MNSHHP. No clear lines for treat stations, only 2 entertainers, only 2 animal exhibits open, not a single map or event guide in the place. I mean, honestly! Why can't my little local event at $25 a person be the same as a multi-million dollar event at a place that does nothing but huge events and charges a mere $200 a ticket? :P But hey, it gave me 4 miles of walking at least. Sunday - 20 minutes
