Can someone explain the Mad T Party to me? We are planning our first DLR trip, and I know it replaced the Tron Dance party, but what exactly is it? Is it included in your park admission or does it require a separate ticket? Is it every night? (I know it just soft opened, but does anyone know what nights it will be when it is "officially" open?) And is it year round? (We are planning this December) I wasn't originally planning on going to it, but now that I'm seeing pictures, it looks like of cool, and I think my kids would like it (at least for a few minutes to check it out). :cool2: Thanks!

Right now it is Fri-Sun until June 15th, when it will be open every evening.

I went last weekend, and really enjoyed it.

Here's a thread with a video: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2932095

It starts off at 7pm, when Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum lead the crowd in a countdown (they are "tough" and a couple of funny guys), then you go through arches with mist "through the rabbit hole" into the party. There is a band that plays pretty cool music, and there are dancers, including a giant "slinky" and pink flamingo on stilts.

I had never been to any of the night parties before and really liked this one. There is no extra charge, and it is in the area where Monsters Inc is.

Thanks for the info Mary Jo. Do you know if these type parties stay around for the holidays (namely NYE time frame) or are they rotated out pretty often? Thanks as always for the great infornation you put out!

I thought that slinky was soooo cool!!! I was there on one of the nights BellaElla & eatmypixiedust were there. They were ready to part-y, and I enjoyed it, too. :)

Thank you, DisneytheKid. :) I would expect it to be on weekends during the off season, and every night during the peak season, including when you're out there. I think it will be pretty popular.

I dont think Disney has even put a time frame on this one yet! But my guess is it will last through the holidays at minimum. ElecTRONica was only suppose to go for a short time through the summer of 2011 to take advantage of the new movie and ended up being extended twice and stuck around for 18 months.

So this will probably stick around for a year at minimum.

Don't get me wrong, I'll see it. But I'm pretty sure nightmares will follow ROFL (Have I mentioned I have a fear of costumed characters? This one is high up there... LOL) I'm excited to check this out. Now to convince the Grandma to take the Grandkids so we can enjoy it more :lmao:

I would add that compared to Glowfest and ElecTRONica, it looks like Disney put a lot more money in Mad T Party. My guess is it would be around for a long time, maybe not every night...

They had the Tron trailer in the theater at night. Anything for Mad Hatter?

Yeah great point! I have not seen it in person yet, but just based on the videos they look like they went all out with it! So it will definitely go awhile! I have a feeling it will be everyday through the summer and then weekends only in the low season like what they did with ElecTRONica.

But this is why I give Disney a lot of credit these days. They already had enough to bring people to DCA with BVS and CL alone, but they went another extra step and now giving them a great new party and mini-land with Mad T Party! Of course I'm not naive, I realize they will be raking it in with the alcohol sales, but the fact that its giving people more entertainiment for their buck is a big plus!

I will be seeing it all opening weekend and I cant wait!

EEK, I've been meaning to post a review from the first weekend of previews (I went all 4 nights this past weekend) along with my photos (I took far too many). I guess I should get on that? It is crazy, and yes Mad T Party will be around for a nice long while (nightly in the summer and then weekends only during the off-season, I believe).

And yes Mary Jo, we were ready to party. And party we did. For 4 straight nights. I am in love with Mad T Party. I absolutely love it. Love, love, love. Yup.

Thanks Mary Jo! I appreciate it!

I'm too lazy to upload them all to Photobucket or Flickr and post them here, but I've posted a lot of my photos at least of the band (in a smaller collage format) here: http://belleella.tumblr.com/. Hopefully tomorrow I'll finally add the photos from the menus, Who R U, the Hottest Deck, and the stuff that goes on at the entry/rabbit hole.

My family stopped by the Mad T Party last weekend and were surprised how much fun it was. We're not really big into dance parties and EleTRONica didn't really do anything for us, but we found Mad T to fun.

The first thing you see when you enter from by Muppets is a big archway. At 7 pm (when the party starts) Tweedle Dee and Dum come out a do a little show:

The arch is full of mist (which later in the night ends up making the walkway pretty slick - they had cleaners with squeegy-brush brooms trying to control the water). Once past the arch you either end up in front of the main stage, where Alice, the Mad Hatter, and the White Rabbit are or you can go to the Drink Me bar (one of two bars). YOu can see the White Rabbit sticking up from inside the tea cup (She looks much better when it's dark because her ears light up):

Both of the bars have the same menu. The other bar is in the back, by the arcade and second stage (it has a more elaborate set-up).

On the second stage there was an acrobat in a rainbow slinky costume:

It seemed like she alternated with a dance crew. When Alice and the Mad Hatter were out, neither the dancers nor the rainbow slinky were out. Alice and Mad Hatter did an assortment of pretty standard/classic rock/pop songs. Both times we heard the 8 pm music set and it ended with Journey's Faithfully.

The arcade had lots of games. The token machines ($0.25/token) had neat Mad T tokens (they were still nice and shiny!). We walked quickly through the arcade, but didn't play anything. I saw basketball, a dance party type game, and several others.

My favorite part of the the party were the slushies (non-alcoholic). They came in four flavors: green apple, pear, cotton candy, and mandarin. We tried the green apple and pear. You can get it in a Mad T Party Mad Hatter cup, a twisted yard, a sipper cup, or just in a cup. If you opt for the twisted yard (which I did on the second night), be aware it holds about 4 cups of slushie!

Among the wandering performers was a stilt walker dressed as a flamingo. He was really neat!

Some other decorations and signs around the Party:

The chairs were really popular in the evening...especially the ones near the bar and main stage!

Overall, the decorations looked the best when it was dark. The neon lighting really stood out:

And finally, no Disney activity would be complete without souvenirs:
