My closest friend is getting married at WDW in July. As her Maid of Honor I am throwing her a bridal shower in April and I wanted it to be a really fun theme. The shower will be in Jersey and to get everyone ready for Disney I thought it would be super fun to have a Mad Hatter Tea Party or another Disney theme shower and I am in desperate need of help. Any suggestions, websites or merchandise that would be helpful I would be SO thankful!

I love your idea of a Mad Hatter Tea Party! You might want to enlist the help of your local community theater group. They should have props (perhaps even from an Alice production) to share or rent. Maybe a huge mushroom or flower, etc. You can make tissue paper flowers really easily in all different colors! I think the theme will come through if you just do bright, bold colors. You can personalize M&Ms or candy with words like "Eat Me" and label your drinks with "Drink Me." Oriental Trading's website has huge flowers inflatible flowers and paper flowers for decoration. Search Goodwill and local stores for tea cups and saucers...the brighter and more unique, the better! If I were planning, I'd watch the movie over and over again - find some inspiration - and go shopping! Good luck and have fun - I think this is a great idea!

For a Mad Hatter themed shower I would start with a variety (no 2 need to be the same) of tea cups/saucers/plates/drink pitchers. Bold colors or prints would work well. Remember that the tableware itself can be decorative so the tables won't need much. Consider colorful flower pots with equally colorful flowers in them for decorations. What about paper lanters strung around the room over the tables as well as colorful liens. You could spend the money on an elaborate cake or create a cupcake tree instead where each is a different color. If you or someone else is creative you could make a carboard/plywood cutout of a giant tea cup that could be used as a decoration/prop for photos.

Here are a few pictures from a Mad Hatters Tea Party at DLR. HTH.

RangerPooh: I hope you don't mind me asking, but approximately how much did your Mad Hatter themed shower cost, per person? I am getting married at DLR in May of 2008, and am hoping to have the Mad Hatter Shower! Thanks for your help!

We ended up not doing one due to the costs. FTW said that they would be purchasing every centerpiece item NEW as they toss them after each event, so the cost was going to be runing pretty high. I want to say they it was a couple thousand dollars. PM me if you have any toher questions :)

so cute Laura!!

RangerPooh-- If they throw things away after the events... why the heck dont they just let people take what they end up paying for?? Ya know? LOL-- I would somewhat feel as though I own the things on the tables at that point.

I had a mad hatter bridal shower my sis threw for me! I would be happy to send you pics. she printed a lot of alice and mad hatter etc. pics off the internet and taped them up everywhere and signs that said "eat me" "drink me" and "this way" and "that way" put outside. i had a mad hatter cake, and we had crazy colored tablecloths, etc. everyone wore funny hats and we gave mini tea cups and teas as shower favors. it was so fun! oh and my sis bought me the alice in wonderland book (a nice hardback one) and everyone from the shower wrote something in it for me, it was such a cute idea!

The Alice in Wonderland parties look wonderful. Disney does charge a premium for these at the resort. I love the way you guys did the different tea party decorations!

My MOH threw a surprise "Unbirthday" shower for me at work. They made me an Alice dress that they put on over my clothes in the bathroom. :scared1:
I had a Cheshire Cat cake and my boss made an awesome teacup cake filled with coffee ice cream. My coworkers dressed up as characters. It was a hoot!

Early in the planning I told my MOH about the Tea Party Shower at WDW, and she remembered!

I LOVE those photos Heatherlynn-- what a blast that looks!! if you find those invites-- id love to see them!
