Mad Hatter Costume Help

Can anyone help me with a design for the mad hatter. I have a 35mth old son who my oldest daughter wanted the three of them to go as The Mad Hatter, Alice and The Queen of Hearts. I was able to find costumes for the girls that were short and I think will be fine the heat but I cant find anything for my Son.

I have very little talent in the sewing department. I did dye a pair of shorts purple thinking that would work and now trying to think of a shirt. I have the hat.

Can anyone help me PLease?????I dont want him to be too hot but want him to look the part.

How about an iron-on? Then you won't have to worry about a tie or jacket and your son being too hot!

Do you have any knowledge of doing a whole shirt iron on ? I love this idea? But a little confused on how to do the transfer onto the whole shirt?

may I suggest that you get a T shirt in the mustard-like gold of the Mad Hatter's jacket. Then you can use the iron on as you normally would and it will look (pretty much) like one garment, I would think.
