Hopefully someone can guide me in the right direction. I am looking for the best way to book a hotel room room for the Macy's Parade. The idea is to be able to view the parade from the hotel room even better if the room has a balcony. I am fully prepared for the crazy price tag and knowing that I could be booking for 2015 or even 2016.

Anyone done this have any tips or tricks? Can point me in the right direction.

You're best bet is to look for a hotel somewhere in the 40s or 50s on 6th. Unfortunately it's not exactly a hotel rich street. You don't want anything in Columbus Circle. Everything powers through there.

On the plus side I had on bottom layers for the 1st time in 6 years last Thanksgiving. I've been under a Balloon Thanksgiving morning for years most times I'm dressed for 50 degrees not 20.

If it's a windy year the Balloons fly low. A top of a Balloon isn't nearly as fun to watch. And seeing the floats at eye level makes you realize how little of the details you see on tv.

The Parade goes directly in front of The Hilton on Sixth Ave. Last year there were several packages to choose from with room & views priced at different levels. If you've never done the Parade before you'll need to know that most hotels in Manhattan have minimum night stays in effect for the week leading to & including Thanksgiving weekend. Most are 2 to 4 nights. Prices last year averaged around $750US per night double occupancy. With some hotels being lower but on or near the parade route - higher.
