And to be even more specific, go in at the Herald Square end. That's where the small appliances are, together with the kitchen utensils and other such stuff.

Yes, Macy's tends to be overpriced for appliances, even with the sales.

K-mart is on W 34th St between 7th & 8th Aves. South side of the street. (The other side of the street from Macy's & over a block.)

There is a Bed, Bath & Beyond on 6th Ave & W 19th St.

There is also a great dollar store two blocks down from Macy's on 32nd Street, between 6th & 7th Aves called Jacks. Upstairs, it has a gadget & a small appliances section, too.

If you are going to BB&B, remember to bring their store coupons.
