Because they are owned by the same company.

OP, I don't know the answer to your question but I'm very interested to hear because I have a Macy's card just sitting in my purse and I would love to be able to use it at Target if I can.

Sorry, Macy's and Target are sister companies, same "owners". For Christmas I received a Macy"s gift card and since I am not a Macy"s shopper I was wondering about using it at Target.

I believe they used to be owned by the same parent company years ago but aren't any longer

They did used to be owned by the same company but have since gone their seperate ways. And to answer the question no you have to use macys at macys target at target. I know when it was daytons you could use your daytons card at daytons and target.

They haven't been owned by the same corporation since 2005...
