Maclaren Volo

I'm sorry - every time I see this subject title (in various forms) I think Volvo (the car) has come out with a new model. It cracks me up every time! :lmao:

Sorry to interrupt - just had this need to share.

Carry on. :cool2:

Nope. There are plenty of them there and tons more strollers that are much more expensive. We have never had a stroller taken in our 15 years of taking them. They do get moved by the CM's, but are always nearby.

I know I guess it’s hard for me trust people. My husband would rather take the bugaboo, but I’ would rather risk losing the $100 stroller vs. the $900. I'm already worried about the volo. But dh has to have the five point harness. Even though the bugaboo would be more comfortable for ds. He loves the volo too so I'm sure we will be using it.

15yrs that's great and good to know :) Thanks for the head up on cm moving strollers.

Question, though - Do any of you have a rain cover for your Volo, and if so, was it a good thing to have at WDW? I wondered whether it would be worth having, since the material looks like it would dry out quickly.

I did buy an inexpensive one off of ebay for maybe $6-10 or so, made for an umbrella stroller. We used it only once when it downpoured one day at MK. It was nice to have b/c my son wouldn't walk while waiting for the stroller to dry, so it was nice to take the cover off and have it be instantly dry. But I don't know if you really need it. I bought one for the park double stroller that we rented too, but I wouldn't do that again. Those seats are plastic and can be wiped down. I guess it depends on if you want to carry one in your bag in the event of rain. Another option is to buy those dollar store rain ponchos. If it rains, those can be draped over the stroller and tossed after. They can be ripped to fit better too.

Thanks! If we can find an inexpensive one, we may go ahead and get it. If not, we'll take our chances with the ponchos.

I hate to have the dissenting opinion, but if I had to buy the Volo over again I wouldn't do it. I am not at all impressed with Maclaren - I find ours to be poorly made and not very sturdy. Also, for the money I should have spent a little bit more and gotten one that reclined.

I love our Volo for our DS and the younger one has the Techno which is the best for the younger ones 3 and under, the seat reclines fully, the basket is roomy, it comes with a sunshade and a peek through window, and my favorite it comes with a clear plastic cover you attach to the side of the stroller and your little one stays completely dry. The one on display at the stores do not have the plastic rain cover, so ask to try it out when shopping for it. The Volo is great too, but DS has to use a pancho or umbrella.

Good luck!

I find that hard to believe. Our Volo and Quest are built like tanks. The frame that they are on is SO STURDY. I was amazed when I got the Volo a couple of years ago. I have never seen such a sturdy umbrella stroller in my life. I can see why the weight limit goes up to 55 pounds. We had a combi before the Maclaren and talk about poorly made. The frame was plastic and it was very shaky and unstable. The frame on the Maclaren was like steel!!!! True the Volo does not recline, but they have many other strollers to offer that are made just the same that do recline.

another vote for the volo. I am a Mom of 6, have been buying strollers for going on 25 years :) and have never had a stroller I have enjoyed as much as the volo.

Our local BRU has the rain shields out for you to try on your stroller. I wonder if the water may seep through the hood though as it is not covered (haven't read about that yet?)

The seat is actually a bit deeper in the volo than the reclining ones. plenty deep for my tall 4 year old.

My DD2 and my DS4 absolutely love this stroller as well. We just returned from our first trip (4 day beach trip with tons of walking) with the volo. (they fought over who would ride) I am purchasing the 2nd one before disney for sure.

I eyed every single stroller I passed (and it was a huge preschooler week end!) and nothing came close to the Maclarens!

I was trying to add up how many strollers I have owned over the years and quit at around 20 but know there were more.

My one regret is not having "invested" sooner!

OH!! Important note: the first one I purchased had a manufacturing defect, the seat ripped after one day ( I actually thought my DS4 was to heavy or something although he is under 45 pounds) but turns out it was just a defect and was replaced no questions asked at all. new one has no signs of ripping at all and I've been eagle eyeing it.
