I see lots of threads on these strollers and I was just wondering what is so special about them. They are awfully pricey. What makes them different from other strollers? Any particular models better than another? We are taking a 1 yo in August and would like to know the advantages of these strollers.

Thanks,

Joanne

They are lightweight, durable, and push like a dream. I think all the models are great - you'd just need to find one that best fits your needs (reclines, double, etc...).

and they have a decent weight limit for the size. I wanted a compact stroller that pushed well and would hold my 2 1/2 year old who was over 50 lbs.

I'll second all that's been mentioned, but I'll add this: In 5 children I am a stroller junkie, I have had at least 2 strollers per child and was usually dissatisfied with what I had. I bought the Maclaren Triumph (at the suggestion of the Dis) when my last child was 2 and wished to goodness that I had found it before. It is by far the very best stroller I have ever had.

Thanks, everyone!

Would you recommend the triumph for a 1 yo? I will need it to lay down flat or almost flat so he can sleep if needed.

I'm not sure the difference between the Triumph and Quest but we have the Quest for our 16 month old and love it. We started using it when she was about 11 months old and are so happy we made the purchase!

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

The trimuph does not recline as much as the quest. I had the trimuph and bought a quest a year ago for our then 1.5 year old because it reclined better. We also have the double...and LOVE it so I would recomend any Maclaren!!!! Great stollers.

I think they're very popular here because of the higher weight limits. In the real world outside of WDW, most people would not DREAM of putting a 6 year old in a stroller and pushing them around. But for WDW, "investing in a Mac" works out to be cheaper than renting a stroller for a week.
I've never been a fan, but a lot of people swear by them.

I don't have a Quest so I can't say for sure (the website gives more detailed info), but I "think" the Quest reclines better and also the seat adjusts so that you can put their feet up and it's more comfortable. I will say that when I bought mine I just didn't have the extra money to buy the Quest, but later I wish I had. I even briefly thought of buying one this year, but, my daughter is 4 1/2 and while she definately still needs a stroller at Disney, she really doesn't use it anywhere else so I think it's a waste of money for me. If I had a one year old, I would invest the extra money in the Quest, I think you'll be happier with it for a younger child.

I used to think paying all that money for a stroller was a waste. Then my kids grew older and I didn't need a stroller. Until the Disney prices went up (only place we use a stroller other than a jogger.) My friend gave me her old Maclaren - I love it! Had I known how great it was I would have shelled out the money when my kids were young. I love how easy it opens and folds. But the best part is that I cna push my heavy 3 year old easily with one hand!! :thumbsup2

Wow! You have all convinced me. Where is the best place to purchase a Maclaren stroller?

When we took ds on his first trip to WDW, we were looking for an umbrella type stroller to tote him around in b/c he was just 2. I looked and looked and then found the Maclaren at Target...believe it or not! They don't typically carry them around here in the store but they happen to have one that was a "return" and it was marked down significantly!! WHOO HOO! I snatched it up and pulled it out of the box...it was still in the plastic and was perfect. Needless to say, I bought it. I figure it was a shower gift that someone purchased online and gave and the gift receipient returned it to the store. Thank goodness they did...my son is heading back for his 3rd trip to WDW in September and we will be rolling him around in the Mac. Ours folds up like an umbrella stroller and has a great strap to throw it over your shoulder. That is great when you are getting on the MK train or other rides that you need to carry the stroller on. I would check Target just to see if there is a Mac stuffed up in the shelfs...it never hurts to look! Good luck!

Do you think any Orlando stores would have the Maclaren stroller and be able to ship it to WDW, so it would be there when we arrived at our resort?

I just got my Maclaren Triumph double stroller. I love it. I ordered mine from Babies R Us. It even came with the rain cover. I too wish I had known about this stroller earlier in my stroller shopping days. I went through 2 Jeep double strollers.

Our Super Target has the Maclaren Triumph single stroller in stock.

Ebay, Ebay, Ebay....I was able to get a 2006 Volo model, brand new for $69 with free shipping......couldn't beat it. The color would not have been my first choice (salmon), BUT, at Disney is proved to be a lifesaver in the sea on blue and black strollers....mine always caught my eye:goodvibes

Ebay.....I got my quest and twin traveler on ebay for prices much cheaper than any store.

Another vote for ebay. You can pick up a brand new Triumph for $115 shipped.
