Hi All -

I've read in the past several posts on this board regarding Maclaren strollers. I need everyones opinion because I just can't figure it out. :confused3 I want to buy one of these and splurge for our Disney trip. I have a 4 yr old and a 2 yr old. I'm looking for the lightest weight umbrella like stroller that reclines with a canopy and storage underneight. I also want one that goes to the highest weight range since my kids are getting bigger - dd is 40lbs and I think some of these strollers go to 55lbs. What would you recommend? TIA.

We splurged on the Maclaren Quest just before our Dec. '04 trip when my girls were 2 and 4. My 4 yr old has always been tall for her age and outgrew most strollers by the age of 3. I got the stroller mostly for my 2 yr old, but in case the 4 yr old got tired, I wanted her to be able to ride in it if need be. It was perfect for us! We used it every day and both girls alternated time in it or we'd rent a second single stroller some days so they each had one. We're going again this Sept/Oct and although my girls will be 4 and 6 when we go, I"m sure the stroller will get plenty of use! I know the '04 model I have collapses down like an umbrella stroller and has a rubber handle for easy carrying. It weighed about 10.5 lbs folded up and held up to 55 lbs. :)

Hmmm - I was going to reccomend the Triumph - but that only goes to 40lbs... So does the Quest... So does the Volo... Oh dear... Can't find an upper weight restriction on the Techno though...

Good luck.

We have last years Volo. I really did not want to spend alot of money since I already had a full size stroller and we don't take the stoller to many places. We used it last summer on some short trips and loved it.

OH!

Well in light of that previous reply, I went and checked the Triumph's manual - and that site I was looking at is WRONG! It also goes to 55lbs.

I love this stroller - light (11lbs), easy to push around and fold up and comes in great colors too.

Oh you rock - thanks for all your recommendations. I think I finally figured out they all go to 55lbs. That's at least what the maclaren website says in it's FAQ section. A lot of websites I'm reading say 40lbs though. I emailed a seller on ebay too to ask them to confirm the 40lbs they were saying b/c Maclarens website said all buggies are tested for 55lbs.

Maclaren just upgraded the weight limits on their buggies about 2 years ago, I think. Before the change, they were all rated for 40 lbs. per child, so the capacity on a used buggy will depend on the yr. of manufacture. New Macs are all rated to 55 lbs.

I'd go with a Quest/Ryder/Vogue...they're all about the same. Ryder and Vogue have larger wheels. All are fairly light and have a better recline than the Triumph.

We decided on the Quest. I want to buy a 2005 on ebay. Does anybody with a 2005 know that it is rated for 55lbs. Thanks NotUrsula for letting me know they recently changed that.

We bought our Volo before our recent WDW trip, and it was specifically for that purpose. Our DD is 3.5, but we considered this an investment as we'll have it forever. We got ours for $80 at Babies R Us on clearance (last year's model, I think). It is super lightweight, folds up nice and compact. It has a carry strap for your shoulder.

It doesn't recline, BUT, it doesn't really need to. They sit so far back in the seat, that it looks very comfy and she went to sleep in it very often.

Also, it is AWESOME to steer. DH and I would debate over who got to push!!! It's very comfy to push - very much designed for taller people.

I saw so many people stooped over cheap umbrella strollers - that just did not appeal to us at all!

It was very much worth the money we spent on the stroller. The plus for us was having it between the gate and bus stops, and then to our resort room. At the end of a long day, the last thing we wanted was to have to carry a almost 40 pound kid. :)

Yes, I have the 2005 Quest Mod and it goes to 55 pounds...and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE that stroller!!! (just got it about a month ago) I got one with pink circles on it and it is just adorable. You WON'T be disappointed!

This is the one I got...http://cgi.ebay.com/MACLAREN-QUEST-...ryZ66703QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

They have other colors for sale on ebay, too!

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!

I purchased a Triumph from Babydealz.com. It is a 2004 model and I got it for $110. We are doing 9 days in the parks and a day at Seaworld so we would be spending close to that just to rent one. I am so glad I bought it.

I purchased a Volo for my 3yr old for our last trip. The previous trip we took one of the 'freebie' umbrella strollers from ToysRus. I must say I do prefer the Volo so much more. DD said it was very comfy, and did nap in it a few times. I really like the carrying strap, came in handy when boarding the bus and the umbrella fold was nice as it didn't take up as much room on the buses.

I thought it would be nice having the higher weight just incase my 6yr old needed a ride on some of the longer days at the park. The 3yr old had other plans and refused to let her older sister ride in 'her' stroller. I am debating getting a second one or a Quest/Triumph for our next trip for my younger DD.

I think ours is either a 05 or 06 model, not sure which, but it has a canopy. I have read that the older ones did not come with a canopy. The only problem I have had so far with ours is that at first we must not have had the canopy on correctly as it would pop off at times. Although it hasn't done that lately.

We have a Triumph and a Quest. Now that my DD is almost 50 lbs I find that the Quest accomodates her a little better. If cost is a factor I would still consider the Triumph b/c it is an awesome stroller. DD does prefer the Quest a little better saying it is more comfortable but I really don't think you can go wrong with either one.

I just bought a Mac Rally Twin from albeebaby. It's a 2005 model and rated to 55lbs each seat. I have a tall 3yr old (40in/40lbs) and a 9mo old and my oldest fits fine- no complaints. I'd def. get a double bc walking around the parks gets tiring. Here's what I got- it was only $5 more than Ebay plus they are an authorized dealer. Ok, I can't post the URL- it's the Insignia/Allure color if you search the website.

We've used it 4 times in the past 3 weeks at the parks and it's easy to push and steer and fits thru any door a wheelchair can get thru.

Even though the Mac's say they're Ok up to 55 lbs, try it out first! For our last trip, with my 8 mo. old and my 4 yr old, I was looking for a double stroller that would fit both of them. I had my son, about 40 lb.s and 40 in. at the time, sit in the Mac Rally (I think that was the name) and he JUST fit - his head and feet were sticking out all over the place. So they may support 55 lbs, but I don't know how a taller kid could fit. We wound up buying the Mac Quest and we took 2 strollers. My son fits in the Quest, but it won't last long. Then I figure I'll have a good umbrella stroller for the little guy. Pushing 2 strollers wasn't bad, I think it was easier to get thru the crowds.

Good luck!

We have two Mac Quests for our boys (2 and 5), took both with us last month to WDW. I have to say that I loved them. I wish I had bought them first!

I debated about gettin a double Mac side-by-side for the trip, but just couldn't bring myself to do it because I am thinking my older son will be out of a stroller by next year. I did bring stroller connectors, in case I needed to push both stroller, and did use them two times (both times at the airport). In a pinch they work fine, but they will not take the place of a double stroller for the long term.

DS5 fits fine in the Quest (45 inches and 48 pounds). I have an 04 and an 05 model and both go up to 55lbs.
