Mackinac Island/City

Another Disney connection: It's the same voice and he slips and says "cast members" in regards to the ferry crew.

I don't think it's a slip, specifically; they refer to their employees as cast members on their facebook page too.

If you have never gone over the Makinaw Bridge that is a must do. We just returned from San Francisco and think it is much more impressive then the Golden Gate. In fact we were disappointed.

Can anyone give recommendations of moderately priced, but good places to stay? I've only ever been there once, many years ago.

On the island there is nothing moderately priced. In Mackinaw City, most every place is moderately priced.

That link will show you everything you need to know about the hotels in Mackinaw City. I do recommend staying on the water side of the road, as it is very nice to be able to walk out of your room and wade into the water.

My last trip we stayed at Bridge Vista Beach, which is one a bit farther out of town. It has a couple of indoor water slides, which is why we picked it. It was a nice enough hotel You will need to drive into town from that location. If you would rather walk in, stay no farther out than the Hamilton Inn.

St. Ingnace which is on th UP side of the bridge we have found the hotels to be much cheaper when we have gone. Just a thought.

Ok, have to second the Tunnel of Trees drive and TOMS MOMS COOKIES!!! We just tried these for the first time last week. Holy cow are they good! I normally will not eat a cookie after first day after it was baked, but for some reason these were still just good on day two and three. They are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!
:thumbsup2
I'm in desperate need of some now. I've thought on many occasions of getting them mailed to me, but it's just so damn expensive. It's definitely the first thing we head for when we go up north.:goodvibes

Interesting. I was wondering, had it been a slip, why they let it go through. That makes much more sense now.

Kind of odd to think of the ferry company calling themselves "cast members". That's a lot of expectation to put on a 15 minutes ride to a Great Lakes island!
