OK really don't want to get into a huge debate but I've had a PC all my life. Computers were just hitting main stream for me in college about 15 years ago. Our Dell is 7 years old and is starting to get slow and other fun stuff. Hubby is debating an apple computer now. I'm too old to try something new. Any opinions??????

Try it.... you will love it. After 20+ years of PC's I went Mac and won't ever look back!!

After having PC's for years both my DS' decided within 6 months of each other to buy MAC's........THEY LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!!! Seeing you have had PC's, go to an APPLE Store and have one of the techs show you everything about the MAC. Then you can make your decision. :goodvibes

I have always used a PC, and never considered needing anything different. My DS wanted a Mac when he started college a few years ago. I used it a few times and really liked it! Bought my own Mac last fall. No regrets at all. :thumbsup2

I have to agree w/ the PPs. I'm not sure why people are afraid of mac OS. :confused3 It's really not hard. It's even kinda similar... minus the start bar.

Go play with one in the Apple store... seriously. Best thing about the mac? It just works... and you don't have to reboot it all the time. :)

Dont waste your money. Stay with PC.

I use a PC at work and a Mac at home.

I learned on a Mac, too. I am not a huge computer-savy person, either.

Macs are just easier and they don't crash or have "issues."

We have both in our household and I prefer the PC. the Macs seem to have way more issues than the PC's. DH has had to tak his macbook back in to the have monitor fixxed 3 times since he has had it. I haven't been able to use my macbook for over a year. It wouldn't boot. I just gave up on it.

My parents have a Mac and always seem to have issues and call us to help them.

There are certain games I play and programs that I use that are PC based only. DH actually spends most of his time running XP on his Mac and only uses the MAC OS for graphics.

And the Mac's are so overpriced.

I have always had a PC and don't plan on changing. Like the PP stated, MAC's are way over priced. I can get a lot more PC for A LOT less money than a MAC costs. I just bought me a new DELL laptop and it cost about half the price of a MAC, not only that it has a lot more options than the MAC does.

Went MAC last year....

Once you ditch Windows, and of of it's glitches and security issues... You'll never look back.

When the only good thing that regular PC's that use windows can come up with is ".... it's a PC" That says it all!

Mac all the way....for all the reasons stated above. Soooo much more intuitive than PC...and I like their advertising...LOL

I have to echo what the majority have said---go to an Apple store and try one, or if you are like me and don't have a store nearby, try to find a friend with a Mac. Once you have spent a little time using it, I think it will be an easy decision for you.

Mac lovers are often characterized as biased "PC haters" but I don't hate PC's. I just like a a computer with easy to use applications that fit my needs. It is just icing on the cake that it is so cool too! :goodvibes

I luff my Mac. PC user my whole life but I will never go back. Once you get used to the operating system (which isn't hard) it's fabulous.

We're a Mac household. We have a MacBook Pro, MacBook, iMac, 2 iphones and ipods. We got our first Mac 9 years ago and haven't turned back or regretted making the switch. I was skeptical at first, but I've been converted.

Macs are great and the the customer service is very good. We don't have glitches and have never gotten any viruses on our Macs. My husband uses Windows for work and hates it, especially after the ease of the Macs. Everything is so easy with the Mac, I find them to be VERY user friendly. Apple stores also offer free classes to help you learn about Macs and they have the Genius Bar which can be useful.

A few weeks ago I started to seriously think about buying a new computer. I was given the advice (from the good people on the DIS!)to go to an Apple Computer store and check out the MACS. I did just that and I WILL be buying a new computer! I was so impressed with how easy it was to operate a MAC and the people that work in the Apple computer store are so nice and helpful! I can't wait to get rid of my PC!!!!:goofy:

I've always had Apple products and love them. Only complaint I have is that they seem to be lagging behind on development of Blu-ray products. With all the emphasis on graphics and the new HD screens, it seems odd that they have completely ignored Blu-ray. Makes me wonder if they know something I don't about its future. Maybe there is something new on the horizon that will blow Blu-ray away.

I will be buying Mac sometime next month before I start grad school. A few people I know have Macs and I have used them and I like them. I have an HP laptop and a Dell desktop. Both have worked well for me and I haven't had any problems. I think with PC's you need to have good anti-virus system and avoid downloading files from limewire, or similar sites which are known to have viruses, spyware, worms etc.
