Mac or PC?

I have 4 Dells in this house and I've never really had a problem with them either. Every once in awhile an adapter burns out, but that is expected. I have a 4 year old notebook that has needed a new video card and hard drive, but after 4 years of pretty heavy use, I don't think that is unreasonable.

Really the only computer I ever had a terrible problem with were 2 eMachine desktops I bought for the kids at Costco. Those suckers were terrible.

If somebody told me I could go out today and buy whatever computer I wanted, I'd probably get a Mac Air. I think they look cool and I'm curious.

My DH does PC support, and he spends more time per computer on the Macs in the building than the various PCs. That says a lot to him.

Really? DH did tech support, and the majority of his dept's time was spent on the PCs.

There are more PCs in his building, so he spends more time on those collectively, but when a Mac is down, it's a much more serious problem that requires more time. Per computer, he has to spend more time on the Macs.

Sorry for his experience. That's not true at all for my IT department, it's definitely much more time consuming to repair PCs, and they need repair much more often.

I had a Mac in college, but now we have PC's. It was a few factors - price (we got the PC for WAY less than a Mac would have cost); we are not "gamers" nor graphic designers (if we were, we probably would have sprung for the Mac); and we didn't want to have to re-buy all of the software we have for Mac-compatible versions. We have only bought Dell computers for the past 8 years or so, and have always had good customer service when we had to call the help center.

True enough - you need to spend more time collectively on the PCs cuz there is always something wrong, and when a Mac breaks it usually serious.

I gotta tell you tho - even when it's something like replacing the mother board on my MacBook, I got it overnighted back to me almost before I sent it! I love the customer service.

I have to pick something else because none of the choices fit me.

Mac all the way, until I get to work. I am forced to use a PC at work even though it never works well and I simply have to restart often.

So if I had a choice, I would use a Mac all the time, but I don't.

Since most PCs are now just dumb terminal (funny but that is what they replaced) cost is the deciding factor for me. I just bought a new laptop and looked at a MAC (actually was my preference), but to get a 17 screen the same MAC was $1K more. So I got a windows based machine.

I use PC's, they're cheaper and I know how to keep 'em running. For the "layperson", though, I recommend Macs. They're much easier to operate and don't end up crashing 'n burning after 3-4 years of use.

My experience was the other end, had a fan go bad, sent the machine in, had it back 2 days later good as new.

Mac user in the past, PC user now because DH is a PC guy. I do sometimes wish we could switch over, but I don't really care that much.

Microsoft Windows far outsells Apple OSX. It is expected that there will be proportionally more problems. Folks just looking at "more problems with PCs than with Macs" are missing an important aspect of the situation.

I'm on my second mac. Our first lasted nine years. Actually, it's still working just fine, but so much has changed with computers, especially the macs, that we upgraded.

Apple customer service is wonderful. Our first monitor went black after two years. They sent us a box and packing materials, picked it up, fixed it, and sent it back to us. All paid for, after the warranty expired. It's still working to this day.

Just because macs excel in the areas of music and graphics, doesn't mean that that is all they should be used for. Macs excel in all areas.

Exactly what can a pc do that a mac can't?
