M:S and TT Fastpass News (I think)

We were at the World last week, and noticed something new with the Fastpasses at Mission: Space and Test Track. At least, I think it's new; I don't remember reading about it on this board (but the Theme Park board changes so fast, it's hard to keep up!).

Anyway, the Fastpasses for both of these attractions said on them that you could "obtain another Fastpass NOW for any other attraction." This means that you can get FP's for both of these at the same time, and still be able to get another one elsewhere in EP. We did this several times on different days, and it seemed to be permanent, not set up for specific times.

This is a great advantage, I know in the past you could get a FP for TT that is hours away and be unable to get another. The fine folks at WDW have taken care of that.

Disney news sites have reported that this is an experiment during April.

Cheers.

Thanks for the info DisnutDave :)
I missed this news too. Hope they are still testing this in May for my trip :flower: Sounds like a great idea, especially when your FP is for a long time off.

Does it tell you when you can get your next TT pass? Hope this is still going on in May.

Thanks for the heads up. We're off to Epcot today and were planning on heading straight for Soarin' to get FPs, rather than our usual first stop of TT.

We spoke to the cm at M:S about this when we were there the beginning of April. He said they were doing this in EPCOT(with ALL FP attractions)only for the month of April.Immediately i started wondering,"How can you give out unlimited FP's all day?"How does the system know how many will actually be redeemed(people will get far more than they will use just because they can),Disney can only give as many as they can accomodate for the length of time that attraction is open. All I asked him was why they were trying this and he smiled like he was sooo glad I asked! He told us disney gets alot of complaints from people that they can only get 1 FP in 2 hrs or that the return times are sometimes several hours away.He said this experiment was a way to prove to guests that for obvious reasons,FP has to be limited to the times when guests can actually be accomodated. It makes perfect sense to me.Still, with Soarin open at Epcot I think that will take even more attention from TT,so that situation should improve anyway.

so there is no way that this will still be in end of AUG / beginning of SEPT ? :/

We figured this out when we were at the world a couple of weeks ago. :goodvibes We made sure that we collected as many fastpasses as we could and it sure made a difference for us. Never waited in the long lines! Ever! We also noticed that we could do this at all the parks. However, the statement that you could obtain another fastpast is new-- that wasn't on the tickets.

Well, that's silly. It will prove it to the guests who happen to be there in April, but what about the rest of the world?

There is an article on miceage that talks about all the various Fast Pass experiments. It's hard to anticipate what they will do at any given time. The only advice I would have is to read the Fast Pass as soon as you get it. It may contain a pleasant surprise (such as mentioned by the OP) or an unpleasant surprise (much later return time in the am for MK rides).

Well I can confirm that those we got today were showing 'NOW'. As an experiment, we tried to get more than one FP for Soarin' (not really expecting any success! :teeth: ). We got a ticket saying "NOT A VALID FASTPASS. You already hold an active FASTPASS for Soarin'. You can obtain additional FASTPASS tickets now, at any other FASTPASS location".

I can see that this experiment could work - I'm guessing that many of the FPs issued at any given attraction are never redeemed. Most people probably don't know that, whilst they can't be redeemed before the return time, they can be used at any time after - a fact we frequently use to our advantage. We're often not in the right place to use our FPs during our return time, but we usually manage to get back to our chosen attraction at some time before we leave the park. We did this today at Soarin'. Our return time was 11.35-12.35 and we went back at 3.20. The CM was very careful to check our return time and then waved us on.
