What exactly is included in the price, how many pics do they give you??

How much is it to buy a cd that contains all of your pics taken??

-The shoot
-All your proofs printed in 4x6
-An album with 12 pictures (5x7)

The CD is $1000, but I just heard that it is not hi-res...meaning you can't use it to get them printed

Not hi-res? That's terrible! Princess Bride, do you know if you can you upgrade the MK shoots to bigger pictures? I know you can do that if you use Disney Photography for the actual wedding, but does it work for other stuff too?

i dont sorry we are wishes wedding so have to pay $1000 but i'm sure i have read on here its cheaper for overseas escape brides

From what I've seen in the packet DPS gives you, the disc you buy for $1,000 (or $750 if you're a US Escape couple) does have hi-res images on it, but the disc that's included with the $5,000/$3,000/etc. wedding photography packages (and can include your MK pix) is lo-res.

I've also heard that UK Escape couples get the hi-res disc of ALL their images for free but don't get to choose which pictures go in the 12-image folio.

And if you want bigger pictures with your MK shoot, you can pay $1,200 instead of $1,000 for the photo shoot and get 8x10s instead of 4x6s.

See, this is where it could end up being beneficial to use DPS for all your photography, because if they shoot your ceremony, reception, MK and Honeymoon shoots, you can get all of your photos on the high res for the same $1000. I didn't know this when we were doing our planning. I couldn't justify the extra $1000 just for the MK photos, so I am waiting my 3 years to purchase the CD.

And in case anyone wonders, they keep your images for 5 years. If you haven't gotten the CD by then, you won't be able to get it or any reprints after the 5 years. I checked into this after our wedding.

FYI, Randy keeps his images indefinately.

That's why we decided to use DPS. With the package we picked we get the magic kingdom shoot (guaranteed -- I've heard a la carte you may not always be able to get it) included as well as a cd.

Now... given that you have a CD with your images on it, whether you buy the [supposedly] high resolution one for 1000 (<-- I'm wondering if someone can confirm if its high res or not), or try and use the low res one they give you, are you legally allowed to print off pics from that? Say I want to frame a pic for my mom or something... you know, with the whole "the photographer owns the rights to your pics" thing...... but they did give you a CD with the images... I of course don't want to break the law...

The "$1000" CD is hi resolution.

The packages used to include a low res CD, I think (but am not sure) they stopped giving those out and just include a contact print of all your pics. It's probably just as well since the low-res CD really wasn't that good for printing stuff. I've never tried to print anything off the low res CD since I think the biggest prints I could get is like 3x5 and it's just not worth it.

*Technically* you do not have the copyright to either copy your proofs or print off the low-res CD without express approval from Disney. But, in all honesty, it could depend on where you take them for reprints. Some companies may refuse to do them without the copyright...some might do them for you. Of course, if you have the software/hardware to do them yourself that's up to you.

I elected to wait 3 years to buy my hi-res CD, at that time I will also get the copyright to my images.

ETA: where this all gets kinda muddled is for UK brides. My understanding is that UK brides (especially Escape brides) get the hi-res CD as part of their packages because the reprints (plus shipping) is just too cost prohibitive.
