Did I mention that we're a mere FOUR DAYS FROM DISNEY?!?!?!?
I've come to the realization that the older I get, the more opportunities there are in my life for things to get messed up. Back in the good ol' days of DH and I, there really wasn't a lot going on. We'd go to work and come home, take care of our dogs and our apartment, and our biggest concern was which movie to see on Friday night. Now we've got a mortgage, two kids, and the aforementioned dogs. DH works and I chauffeur and try to get up the nerve to call my advisor about spring enrollment. The plate's a little fuller, which means there's A LOT more room for messes...the comedy of our lives.
The mess has taken a very distinct form over the past week or so. It began with DD's complaints of a sore throat and headaches two weeks ago. Now, DD exaggerates, so we're never quite sure if she's actually about to lose a limb, or if she's merely scratched herself and is craving the attention. I ignore her complaints for the better part of a week, tossing some over-the-counter meds down her throat and hoping she'll find something else to complain about in the near future. She doesn't. I finally break down and tell her that if she doesn't stop we're going to the doctor, which may or may not involved a dreaded shot. She says "okay", which makes me
. DD goes to the doctor and is diagnosed with "a slightly red throat, probably allergies." Prescription filled and all should be fine...except that now she's got a hacking cough....a bad one. She goes back to the doctor tomorrow.
DH spent the better part of last week sniffling and sneezing, which he so sweetly passed on to me. I licked the bug pretty quickly, or so I thought. Fast forward to yesterday morning when I wake up to a completely closed off and throbbing ear. Hmmm....ear infections and airplanes aren't a very good combo.
Doctor's appointment is tomorrow morning...as if I have time for this.
What has become my mantra is on constant repeat in my head...."If this is the worst thing that happens, then I've got it pretty good." Hey, at least we're all getting sick this week instead of next week, right.
Except DS4 hasn't had any symptoms yet.....I sure hope the Disney gods will smile favor upon us.
