M.I.A.'s

Denny, FYI there are also animal chiropractors, my pup had her right hip go out and was in severe pain, the Vet tried aspirin then wanted to operate. One visit to the animal chiropractor and she was good as new.I found him thru this site.

Well, he seemed quite a nice fella...but he says the injury is too old and the
spine has fused together preventing him from doing Wookie any good. He
suggested I try acupuncture as they have a Dr who does it and he says they
have had good results with it.

I'm sorry to hear about Wookie,,,
do you think you'll try the acupuncture ?

Well I'm still hangin in there, but my Grandpuppy is gone. His back legs quit
him completely about noon on Apr 6. I couldn't even get him to eat a hot dog
or drink anything. I sat up with him till about three in the morning....then took
him in about 10 am mon morning.

I was sitting next to the stretcher they had him on and he started struggling
to get up off of his side......something he hadn't done since the day before. He
rolled to an upright position with his paws out in front of him and laid his head
over his right foreleg and rested it against my leg. That was all he wanted.

It was all I could do to keep from bawlin like a baby...but I knew that someone
crying really disturbed him so I choked it back and just stroked his head and ears until they came in and gave him the sedative. After they left he looked up
at me once and then drifted off. About 5 min later they came and gave him the
final injection. He was gone in seconds. After the Dr thanked me for doing "The right thing" they left me alone with him and I took his collar off for the
last time. I started to cry as I sat there stroking his fur for the last time and
just could not quit. Finally the young lady that helps the Doc came in and
asked me if I'd like a tuft of his hair.

A Pet's Last Request

If it should be that I grow frail and weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this last battle can't be won.

You will be sad, this I know,
Don't let your grief be allowed to grow,
For on this day, more than all the rest,
Your love and friendship stands the test.

We had so many happy years,
What is to come can hold no fears,
Would you want me to suffer so?
When the time comes, please let me go.

Take me where my needs they tend,
and stay with me until the end,
And hug me tight and speak to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time that you will see,
It is a kindness that you do for me.
Although my tail it's last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.

Do not grieve that it should be you,
who must decide this thing to do,
We've been so close, we two, these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

They will not go quietly, the pets who've shared our lives.
In subtle ways they let us know their spirit still survives.
Old habits still can make us think we hear them at the door
Or step back when we drop a tasty morsel on the floor.
Our feet still go around the place the food dish use to be,
And, sometimes, coming home at night, we miss them terribly.
And although time may bring new friends and a new food dish to fill,
That one place in our hearts belongs to them.... and always will.

Im so sorry Denny.:sad1::sad1::sad1:

My deepest sympathies, Denny. It's hard to do the right thing, but our pets rely on us to make these extremely difficult decisions for them. How lucky they are that they go through life not realizing what is wrong at the end or what is to become of them. How sad for us that we do know. I have made this decision for one friend before, and soon may have to make it for another. I know your pain.

So sorry for your loss. It is the hardest thing to do !!!!

We lost our lab 3 years ago, my first baby, he was 12.

Denny,
I feel your pain, I had to do the same thing to my dog Blackjack last week. We had been together for 13 wonderful years. I know you and I did the right thing but it sure is difficult to get over. I cried reading the poem, but somehow it made me feel like maybe I had done the right thing.

I'm sorry. I wish I had some words of comfort that would ease your pain. Know you did the right thing..painful and heartbreaking as it is. You did right by your friend.

Denny, I am so sorry, I am glad Wookie had the time he did with you and you with him, you were a great Grandpa.

Cindy, So sorry for your loss also.

I'm so sorry to hear of both of your losses, Denny and Cindy. It's never easy losing a pet. I have gone through the same thing several times. You did the right thing by not letting them suffer.
