Lysol -- yes or no, checked or carryon?

Hoping someone can give me a definitive answer. I checked the TSA's website and this is what I found:


Aerosol (any except for personal care or toiletries in limited quantities) No No (checked and carryon). Does Lysol spray count as a personal care or toiletries item? To me it does, but I don't know about the TSA. I believe I brought 1 or 2 travel sizes with me last year and didn't have a problem, but I can't seem to find a definitive answer. Also, if you can bring hairspray, why not Lysol?

Last year I had a small travel size lysol spray in my checked bag. It was still in the store wrap and not opened yet. When I arrived in Orlando it was gone and a note from the TSA in it's place. A few wekks after my trip I got a letter from the TSA explaining that they had removed the lysol because it is a flamable substance. Next time I take lyson wipes instead.

Hairspray is a toiletry and lysol is a chemical agent and combustable, it is not permitted in checked baggage.

I would think think that personal care items and toiletries are things you either use to clean yourself, or apply to yourself. Lysol is a cleaning/disinfecting product for household use not personal use
Lysol wipes sound like a good option.
