Lysol on the Plane

Stupid question and probably the wrong board but can you bring a can of Lysol in your checked baggage? I mean is it safe? I normally don't travel anywhere without a can of Lysol to spray down the beds, etc., but I've haven't flown in about 10 years.

Aerosol sprays are perfectly acceptable in checked baggage. Sprays of 3 oz or less are OK in carry-on bags.

You are completely correct. However, I have TWICE had Lysol spray cans confiscated from checked boxes (boxes are always opened and inspected when you check them). It was not worth arguing about at the time.

No, I'm afraid that neither of you are correct. Lysol aerosol is banned, not by TSA, but by the FAA, under a different rule that bans the carriage of pressurized flammable aerosols except under certain personal care exceptions. "Personal care" aerosols are those designed to be applied to the skin, such as hairspray and anti-perspirant; cleaning products and spray starch don't fall under the exceptions. There are size limits on the things that *do* qualify as exceptions.

How about Clorox Anywhere instead? It's not an aerosol--I'm not sure if it's flammable, but the bottle is about 1/3 the size of a Lysol bottle. The packaging isn't marked as flammable, and it says you can throw the empty bottle in the trash or recycle it.

If lysol is banned, can you buy it once you land at the airport? Is there any stores at MCO that carries Lysol? I do like to spray my room down "just in case" before we move into our room.

Oh, please don't use any Lysol on the plane. I know you all prob wouldn't, but people w chemical sensitivities would just be so ill. Yup, me. I'm a school nurse and I had to hide all the Lysol!! I brought in other cleaners that don't have that strong chemical component and odor.
p.s. don't forget to check for the bedbugs

I would NEVER use it on a plane. I would like to spray the room once we get to our resort and then head out to a park!!!! It just makes me feel less germy. Heard of too many people who have been sick with the flu in their rooms.
