Can I safely pack a bottle of lysol in my luggage? I have never done it before. I usually carry one of the mini cans in my carry on but i want to pack a full size one this time in my luggage if it is safe to do so.

thanks !

excellent thanks, i think i will get that clorox anywhere spray, I have used that before at home in the toy room and i know it is ok for surfaces too and non toxic.

thanks !

Can you bring the small spray can in your carry on luggage?

i brought the small spray of the clorox anywhere last trip but it is not an aerosol, i think i said can before but it is a bottle...plastic with like a hairspray type pump. It actually has a nice scent too, very clean smelling.

Does the Clorox anywhere bleach stuff like regular Clorox does?

The TSA site actually states Aerosol (any except for personal care or toiletries in limited quantities) so IMO a small aersol can of lysol would not be a problem. As a matter of fact, I flew to Cali w/a small travel size can in my luggage and it wasn't an issue at all. IMO a small can should be enough but I don't really tend use it all that liberally. I've also flown in the past with regular size cans of hair spray and not had any issue with it.

Technically, Lysol aerosol is banned for carryon AND in checked baggage, as is spray starch and static-cling spray. Size doesn't matter, because this isn't a "liquids" issue; it is a flammability issue. It is banned by the FAA, not the TSA, though the TSA is charged with enforcement of the rule.

The rule for aerosols is that to be allowed in baggage, they must be intended for application to the human body. If you're not supposed to spray it on your skin or hair, then you are not supposed to pack it in your baggage.

That being said, people often get away with it. If TSA has reason to look in your bag and they see it, they will confiscate it, but if they see it only on the x-ray they are likely to think it is hairspray and let it pass. If the tiny can is seen in your 3-1-1 baggie it will be confiscated, but I've known people who put a sticker over the label and get it through. There is no punishment for carrying it; they just take it away from you.

Just returned from the World and packed a large sized aerosal can of Lysol in my checked baggage with no problems at all. I tried finding a travel size with no luck so I decided to take my chances getting the big one through.

Enjoy your trip!
