Lynne Thigpen has died

She was a great actress. My condolences to the family. :(

I was definetly a fan of hers. I really liked her story-line on The District. I've enjoyed following her carrer. She will be missed.

This is the first I've hear this! I can't believe she's gone just like that. I love watching her on The District. OMG, I just don't know what to say. :(

I remember her in Godspell as well as her other roles...so sad.

That is awful!I loved her in The District and my kids used to watch her in Carmen Sandiego. One thing I always wondered about her is if she was related to Yancey Thigpen who plays for the Pittsburg Steelers.Thigpen is kind of an unusual name,at least where I'm from.Again, very sad news.

I was thinking the same thing pat fan. I don't know if they are related but it wouldn't surprise me. I don't know who Yancy plays for anymore but he hasn't been with the Steelers for several years. (I'm a big Steeler's fan!!) I think he may be with the Titans.

I didnt recognize the name but I do remember her from All My Children, then from Carmen Santiago.

Always liked her in anything she did. Sad news!

I first and always enjoyed watching her in Godspell.....I loved being able to hear her sing in addition to watching her marvelous acting...she was given opportunity to sing on AMC as Aunt Grace once or twice....Going back and watching her in her youth along with Victor Garber in Godspell is really something to see.... She will be missed.

She did a lot of good work.
What a shame.

Here's a link to The District's bio. There is also a note there expressing their shock and sadness at her unexpected passing. I really enjoy this show and loved watching Ella develop. She will be greatly missed. There aren't that many true actresses on network TV these days. The original inspiration for The District, Jack Maple, also died very quickly and very young. Lots of sad times on that set.

Lynne Thigpen

I've followed her career for so long!!!
I didn't know about this until I saw it here, and I loved her work on the District....

Our condolences to her family and friends..........:(

She played a small part in a little know movie that is my favorite comedy of all time, Sweet Liberty. alan Alda, wrote directed and starred in it. His co stars were Michelle Pfeiffer and Micheal Cain.
I alos remember her from thirtysomething and Carmen Sandiego

That's just so sad!!! We loved her in Carmen Sandiego, Bear, I remember the AMC part from so many years ago, too. So young..... :( :( :(

I really liked her character on the District- honest and loyal to the Chief even in the beginning when few others were. And I was glad she had found happiness. I remember her from Lean On Me-very different from her last character! Always enjoyed watching her. Sorry for her family.

She also has a role as a judge in a movie that is just being released. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the film and I can't seem to find it mentioned on the Web (heard it on a newscast).

She was so young. I always thought she was very talented. How sad :(
