LuvLuvLuv's Memories TR Starts Pg 73 - Honeymoon Day 6.1

Hmm. I think you should do the whole thing at the Marina--- and I don't think it'll be bad for setup! I mean, it is just the two of you. So, after you say your I Dos and stuff and a bunch of petal cannons go off, then you and Dave can go wander around and get pictures, like, EVERYWHERE! (The GF, the Poly, the Contemporary... why not, right?) And then, when you get back, POOF! They have transformed your ceremony space into this lovely reception space. Is it too obvious to go with some sort of nautical theme at the marina? I'm trying to envision a lot of flowers there and, IDK, it's just not working, you know? I don't mean beach theme, I mean... expensive, yacht club, classy theme. Does that make sense?

And *** FMIL!!!!!!

Lol, it makes sense! I'm excited to plan for such an open area!!

I don't have a terrible amount of input as I'm not overly familiar with the venues you're discussing (but can't wait to see pics!) but I would like to say that your controversy with your fmil breaks my heart, and I admire your strength regarding the situation. You're wedding will be so unique! It makes me excited.

Thanks! The marina is the boat dock at the Grand Floridan that overlooks the castle... I love it!!

I LOVE the marina as a ceremony location!! And you still get the view of the castle!! I definitely think it is more suited for a ceremony than sago cay..with the amphitheater shape. I think it might be better logistically to have the reception at sago cay so you don't have a buffet or action stations in your ceremony photos. Unless you go off for pictures for an hour and that gives them enough time to break down and set up? Oh it's going to be beautiful with an aisle runner.

I'm kinda thinking the same... I have a call on Tuesday to straighten all the loose ends :)

Glad you got some resolution to the DFTW stress.

I love the Marina for the ceremony. That would be lovely. And with time for some pictures, I am sure they could transform the area into a reception site in no time.

Glad Dave has come around on the aisle runner, since I know you have your heart set on it. This way you get the best of both worlds. :)

Awesome choice on the dress!!

Sorry about the FMIL. **** her! That is just so wrong. Wow.

Here's to another day down for you, me and Wendy in the never-ending saga that is DFTW. :rotfl:

I know! Another day down the weekend will fly, I'll sleep thru Monday... then Tuesday will be a week away for me!! The more I look at that dress, I feel like it is "the one" all the aspects are perfect for my personality!!

If you get the right photographer who'll do it you can have the ceremony at the marina, and the camera can take a picture of the two of you saying your vows while the focus of the camera is zoomed straight to the castle. It would have a really awesome 'blur effect' on you two, while crystal clear vision of the castle. It would take one really good camera and lens, but it would look awesome outside.

Also, doing the ceremony/reception outside is an awesome idea. We originally wanted to do both outdoors, and obviously changed, however we changed because ours was in the mid-end of hurricane season. In November the weather will be in the mid to high 70s, cool and very sunny! I've been to Disney about 3-4 times in November and never had a bad day.

If I'm able to get my first choice photographer it will be simply fabulous!! We go in November too and it's so pretty and mild. Hopes and prayers 2012 will be no exception!!

The marina is so pretty! I think it'd be great for a ceremony. It's cute that Dave got really excited. :goodvibes and :lmao: about Perry the Platypus. But Deena, am I missing something :confused3 What is this about stained glass in the Wedding Pavilion? Are they changing it because of the construction? I must be behind the times because this is completely new news to me!:headache:

Ummm yeah :( I read on OneSong's PJ since she just got back from her planning session that the WP will be stain glassed by THIS October. There's pictures of it on her PJ. Wouldn't it be nice to find that out NOT on the internet? I love that Dave is excited now. I resurrected a comment he made last week that if I was going to call all the shots and not listen to him, that I wasn't getting a dime.... well pay up sucker because I'm a woman of compromise

Oh, yup--just looked it up. Eh, I'm not too worried about it...I'm sure Disney will do it tastefully enough so it won't look bad. Besides, if they're doing the same window that OneSong took a pic of, it's still really lucid and with neutral colors.

Haha! Woman of compromise! 'Atta girl!

I LOVE the marina as a ceremony venue! We thought about it but Adam seemed to latch onto SBP. I loved Cassie's decor and specifically her aisle runner. I did ask my stand-in planner a couple of weeks ago about having an aisle runner at SBP because I thought it would add a nice pop of color and she said they weren't allowed at outdoor venues for "safety reasons." I didn't even think about Cassie's wedding when I got that answer, I just kind of wrote it off....I wonder if its one of those things they will let you do if you push a bit.

Ohh fabulous choice! I saw on the Maggie website that there are two colours (white on white and one with pewter accents) which one did you go for? I'm looking forward to seeing your photos!

Lulu,

Sorry I never answered your question. I got the dress with pewter accents. I fall in love all over again when I look at the pictures.

Alllllright!!! I love the marina, if we had a DP thats where it would have been :lovestruc And as for the dress....I got the email this morning on my phone that you updated, immediately searched the photos of the dress on my phone, and the drooling started shortly thereafter! GORGEOUS! I think it is SO you! It's the perfect blend of everything you've looked lately! GREAT CHOICE! :thumbsup2 Now we just need to get some pictures of you in it!

I'm so glad youre out of limbo/wondering land..and I think you and Dave chose some great places! I cant wait to see what else you come up with for your wedding! :cutie:

The marina is a fabulous venue! We looked a lot at the marina and sago cay when we visited in march and were still planning for a dessert party. I know I have a ton of pictures of sago cay that my H took, LML if you want to see them and I can post them to my flickr. I have at least 1 or 2 of the marina. The marina is really beautiful and so is sago cay. I don't think you can go wrong with either one!

Your MIL is a !@#$ That is just wrong what she did. There is no excuse for that. When I got divorced I threw all of my pictures away and told my parents that I no longer wanted them displayed around the house. I'm sorry that she did that, how could she not know that it would make you feel uncomfortable?! I'm sending her a cyber kick in the leg!

I've heard people mention having the PJs attacked, where is this happening? How sad that people feel the need to do that. I'm sorry to hear about the PJ being deleted.

Sorry to hear about the trouble with your FMIL. Hopefully, things will blow over.

The Marina is such a pretty spot for a ceremony. DF and I had considered it for a reception until we found out that you can't play music during your reception there. I do love to boogie down :dancer:so that was kind of rule out as a result.

So excited that you have picked your dress out! It looks fabulous and perfect for an outdoor wedding at Disney.

PS You can let Dave know we're in the Agent P camp and he has our vote. :rotfl:

:) It'll be beautiful no matter what they do to the windows :)

Ugh :( I'll definatley have to ask tomorrow on my call. Is it sad that it could make or break my decision?? I feel like it NEEDS it. I don't have quite the wallet that she does, but if she had an aisle runner, I want it too! I know that I would have to buy it through Disney, but I don't mind.

Thanks for loving my dress :) We're not out of the woods yet, lol. We still have to have the family like the dress, and all my worries about outside restrictions have to be put to rest. It's making me sicker by the minute since we're running out of time. I cried to Dave last night :( He was nice about it thank goodness, lol!

Lol, she's really clueless wait till you read below what she did last night, lol. As far as the attacks go... I know there's a website I googled one time that just bashes disboards--it's lame and I don't take the time to read it because I could care less what they say. Maybe there's another reason... personal... ?? It was just a nice reference for planning.

Ugh, strike 2. No music? Did they mean like DJ music, or even violinists?? We don't want to necessarily boogie down, but a violinist would be nice in the background. Lol, it would be awesome to surprise him with Agent P... I'd have the musician play the Agent P song and have him appear, lol... I can see it now! I hope they bring him to the P&F meet and greet in the future!

Alright everyone, it's Monday. What a crazy weekend. My aunt and stepmom were supposed to visit over July 4th weekend, so I set up dress appointments so they could see what I've chosen. They then decided they weren't coming and were coming Labor Day instead. So I canceled the appointments, didn't clean, made more of a mess, lol... and what happens Sunday? They call and say they've changed their mind and are coming. I knew the first thing I should have done was to go straight to the spare bedroom which is like a mild scene from hoarders, but instead, I decided retail therapy would be better. I gathered my thoughts at the mall and at Target, then went back home to start my cleaning madness. My "catch-all" needs to be transformed into a sleeping area in 6 days. Of course once I start to work on it, FMIL calls and asks me to dinner since the boys are out at a shooting range. This means alone, no Dave to save me. I knew if I said no that I'd never hear the end of it... so I went. It went okay. I ended up inviting her, and her alone since my 2 crazies are coming--I didn't want her to hate me forever or think I'm keeping her away. She said she would see, but didn't want to intrude. She then SHOWED me the pic of her at his previous wedding (like I hadnt seen it already) and said that she would like to get back into that dress, and thinks she can do it in 16 months. She wants to wear the same dress she wore to his previous wedding in like 2003. Blows my mind. I have no words.

So the Marina is getting ready to strike out with me. From previous posts (thanks for letting me know!) there's no aisle runner, no music, and I read in my passporter last night, no characters. Those are 3 MAJOR strikes. Now passporters also said no characters at the Summerhouse, but I got the okay from DFTW to have them there--so I dunno I'll have to ask. I'm gathering questions for my call tomorrow and if you think I'm missing anything... let me know!

I just cried and cried and cried last night because I feel like I'm ready to throw my hands up to all of this and give up. He told me if we had to use the WP that we could. It's not even about that anymore. I'm just exhausted by all of this and am so scared that I'm going to sign on the dotted line, then another stipulation will come up later and it'll be too late. I know I change my mind time after time, and it probably gets on everyone's nerves, but it's what I do. My decision making skills are lacking for sure... pshh you should see me try to decide which lipstick to wear in the morning... or which formula of mascara. Today I have a lot of work to catch up on, my nights will be taken up by cleaning this week, I have to re-make appointments for Saturday and before you know it, Tuesday will be here and I hope everything works out okay! Tomorrow morning is my call, and I'm gathering all my questions--hopefully I get some good news. If anyone has anymore Marina/Sago Cay info... shoot it at me!

:hug::hug::hug::hug:
I know what you mean about being so frustrated with venues and having anxiety about picking something that won't end up working for you. I think your call on Tuesday will give you a chance to talk out all of you question and, hopefully, lessen some of your anxiety.

Just keep in mind you don't have anything to sign until November and if you need to change something, Disney will work with you...as long as you're going to give them money. :goodvibes

Ugh, I'm sorry about everything. I'm especially sorry your FMIL is crazy--- but at least she is interested in having lunch with you! My FMIL (a) hates me but pretends not to and (b) is terrified of food. If you ever get really blah about it, there are some FABULOUS MIL-bashing websites out there. :D

Why does Disney do all of these restrictions?!?! Like, really. I would say don't freak out yet--- definitely contact your consultant (harass, if necessary) and see what he can do for you! :grouphug:

My nerves are calming now... but for some reason, I'm still shaking. I had a million questions to ask this morning and I just rambled one after the other expecting to be defeated... and to my surprise... everything is cool.

I can have my violinist for my ceremony and reception... they just don't allow music after 9pm. The aisle runner is okay because it's on concrete at the Marina and can be taped down--I just have to get it thru the Disney Florist. The petal cannon is in order... and although frowned upon... just like the Summerhouse because it's public area... I can have my characters! Sago Cay is a little more private and will be better for the reception and characters. I'm rather excited, but still feel like I need the garbage can at my side. I'm one week away from booking :scared1:

Against Dave's wishes... I did set the ceremony time for noon. He wanted 10am because of the heat and wanting to have the rest of the day. With a 10am ceremony, that would put me up SUPER early, and lunch would be pretty early too--he's not a breakfast eater so a brunch is out. Also, by noon, everyone is at the parks and out of the resort for the most part. At 10am, you still have morning stragglers and breakfast eaters at Gasparilla's. I think it made sense, my coordinator agreed so we went with it! I have to call Tuesday morning to finalize everything! I'm one freaking week away!!

They're still checking about the Illuminations dinner... but that's whatever. It's really the least of my worries, because although it'd be nice, he doesn't really want to get re-dressed, and for some reason he thought we were going to Shula's that night, lol. I'm not sure where he got that--but whatevs. We'll take it or leave it. I just thought it'd be kind of neat--but who am I  What I'm saying is... if they say no, I'm not going to fight them.

Okay, well there ya have it. I'm still a little queasy, but hopefully that passes. I'm taking an early lunch to go gather my crazy self. I never thought I'd get this nervous over booking a wedding. I may be back later to elaborate on some other stuff :) But yay--everything is a go! :yay:

I think that noon is a perfect time. We looked into a 10 am ceremony for a while and then I realized I'd have to be up for hair/makeup around 5:00 and changed my mind really fast! Your wedding is in November, right? Heat won't be a concern. Seriously. It doesn't get overly hot in Nov but sometimes it can be a little chilly in the mornings. Noon will be perfect. I'm happy that things are coming together for you. Sago cay is a lot more private than the marina. When we were there checking out venues for a dessert party it was around noon time and there were lots of people out and about for lunch near the marina. Sago cay is set to the left of the marina and there really isn't any reason for people to be over there so it was empty. The marina is right by an entrance and there were some outside umbrella tables set just outside of it so there were lots of people sitting in the area. That is why we ultimately ruled out the marina and chose sago when we were still doing the dessert party. I'll load the pictures that my H took of both spots and send you a link to my flickr, maybe it will help you decide.

Here is the link to my flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jillmariest/?saved=1 I hope you don't mind me posting it here, I was going to PM it but thought that maybe others who were considering SC/marina might want to see too. The more I look at it the more I want to go back to having a DP @ sago cay. There are so many beautiful trees for privacy and it would make an amazing enchanted forest all decorated. I love sago cay!

Woohoo!!! Glad you got everything figured out, and you can have characters and an aisle runner!

:cool1:  :yay: :cheer2: :woohoo:

12:00pm update: I went home, got sick, felt better, got some chick-fil-a and feel even better, lol. Woo hoo!!

First I want to say, I am sooo sorry I've been lacking about posting and responding to everything going on in your end. I've had a drama fest, bridal meltdown, and family drama all in one so I wasn't in the mood for posting and it wouldn't have been anything good.

But, I'm glad you're getting everything worked out and within a week all this craziness will be gone and you can sit down and have a HUGE monsterous glass of wine! And all will be okay, for now! haha. <3 If you ever need to talk you know where to find me!

I think the noon idea sounds best because of your various points. And I can't wait to hear about your dress shopping with your stepmomma and such. Should be interesting. Don't get aggirvated. Just laugh it off in the end. =]

And tell momma-in-law to tell her her dress is outdated and that's an insult. =]

Love you girl

I hope everything works out for you! I"m sure your wedding will be beautiful no matter what! :)
Also, what is this about the Wedding Pavilion getting stained glass?
