Luv Bugs?

It still seems early for them but they are starting to appear. I figure within the next week or two is when the peak will occur.

We are headed down Friday and I was wondering about the Luv Bugs. They are so terrible here in East Texas right now that I probably won't even notice them.

What do Luv Bugs look like? We just got back from Disney World on Sept. 12 and we keept seeing these weird bugs, that looked like two were stuck together or something. But then they would fly off by them selves. I have never seeing this bug before in my life, we live in MN. My friends and I were wondering what kind of bug this was........

That was a Luv Bug you saw.

They just started up this weekend in Louisiana, so I figure they will be bad next week in Florida.

Oh well, I just won't pack anything that is white.

Just remember to wash your car as soon as possible after your trip. I've always been told the love bugs contain some enzyme that, when they smash against (and on) your car, can harm the paint.

How long do these love bugs stay around...I dont think we have them in Maryland.

So, is this like the air is filled with bugs? Can you walk around with running into them? Or are they just here and there? Sorry, but as I am visiting with not 1 or 2, but THREE women, I need to be prepared for the freak out factor. Anyone know where a nearby car wash is in the World?

I used to dream about going away with three women. Isn't it amazing how our fantasies never quite turn out the way we invisioned them?

I asked cause we have run into them in September and Spring, March? Both times bad. The upside: They don't bite! :flower: But the are a pest. They seem to fly really slow, and just "hang" around. They get there name cause they ummmmm, "stick" to each other? :confused3 Looks like they have 2 heads in different directions. :earseek:

OK, this might be a dumb question, but why wouldn't you wear white? Do they get on your clothes? No love bugs in Wisconsin, but we do get the nasty Box Elder beetles and they get smooshed EVERYWHERE. Same thing?

8 days and counting til my first ever trip to WDW!!!!! :cool1: :cheer2:

They are absolutely thick around my house. I had to wipe them off the dog before I could let him in the house. I live about ten minutes from WDW. I've also noticed a huge number of the little lizards around the last couple of days. They've been hanging on the screen of my lanai and are all over the sidewalk. I wonder if they eat the lovebugs?

They are not real bad here at my house. Hopefully it stays that way. We have lots of lizards and frogs all the time. :)

Yes, love bugs will get on you and your clothes. They will land on anything. You even need to be careful if you're putting on a cap or some may get trapped in there.

They seem especially bad this year. I don't know if, at least where I am, it's because of the hurricane or what.
