Lurker needs advice

Several years ago my family and I stayed on a DVC property at WDW. My father had the high bid on a week stay in a church auction. We stayed in a beautiful 3 beadroom condo on a golf course. There were awesome pools, a playground, small store, and you would walk from your room to any number of shuttle stops to ride directly to the theme parks. I would like to take my family back but neither know the name of the property nor how to go about renting from someone. I am a simpleton on these matters use to the conventional hotel room route. Anyone able to help me? Thanks to the kind soul who takes on my questions!

Sure does sound like Old Key West to me! You described it well.
You could start with the renter's board to see about staying there as a non-DVC member.

It certainly sounds like Old Key West; if you went "several" years ago, meaning more than 6 years ago, it would have been called the Disney Vacation Club Resort. OKW is rented both through Disney and through DVC members (see rent/trade board on this site). That 3 bedroom can be quite costly (even at the economical rates offered by members it can still be high dollars) and they can be difficult to get because there are not many of them .OKW also has very large two bedroom units (and it has a lot of those).

Thanks for the advice. It was 7-8 years ago and I think it was called DVC then. I will look into a 2 br at OKW. Thanks again!

Von, just a tip, you may want to consider renting points. See the DVC rent/trade board under this board on the main discussion page. You can save alot of $$$ this way as opposed to reserving the room through Disney. The only difference is that you don't get daily housekeeping, but, chances are, if you won you last stay at an auction, you didn't have daily house keeping then either. Good Luck.

PS- points go for between 8-10 dollars per point. See the point calculator on the wdwinfo.com home page and remember that friday and saturday nights are around 2x as many points.
