Lunch w/ MIL - 50's Prime Time or Sci Fi

MIL is 68 years old. Really soaks in atmosphere, unique ideas and sense of humor is on the "corny" side.

Current ADR is for Sci Fi. Our family loves it and we thought she would get a kick out of the drive-in theme. Now, I'm wondering if 50's Prime Time would be more fun for her.

We have never eaten at 50's Prime Time.

Opinions?

I like both.....but 50's in more interactive if she would like that.
My BFF was 61 on her first trip and I took her to both....she like them, but loved 50's and really got into the pranks. The food is really good too

I prefer the Sci Fi but I am guessing your MiL might like the 50's better. You can't go wrong with either though -- I think both are a lot of fun.

I think she would like the 50's Cafe. Once you walk inside it's like you stepped back to the 50's. The waiting area is actually set up like a living room and everything including the shows on the TV's are from the 50's. The wait staff is great at being interactive too. Make sure to eat all your veggies! It's really a fun place. I had the meatloaf and it was very good.

I've never been to the Sci-Fi but I think the 50's has more dinner items to choose from. I may be wrong, but I think the Sci-Fi has more fast food type items. Take a look at the menu section on the boards here.

As someone just a handfull of years younger than your MIL...definately 50's Prime Time! She will love it!


Oh, when you check in at the podium, indicate that you'd like a 'playfull' server. They all are supposed to be, but some are more 'into' it than others.

I still can't decide if I'm having friend chicken or pot roast when I go in September....................


(The theme for SciFi is fun, but I find the seating arrangement difficult for socializing.)

Definitely 50's. I bet she will really get into the experience, and the food is great.

I agree with PP who said seating at SciFi can be a little uncomfortable, and I also don't really like the food (so I'm a little biased).

My MIL loves 50s Prime Time. We're doing both this time, but I'm really doing Sci-Fi more for the kids than MIL.

Def 50's! I think she would really like watching the tv clips from the old shows too! Plus, we really enjoy the service there & the "home cooked" options!

Just switched the ADR!

From the comments I am sure MIL will really enjoy it. I am quite certain my two boys will give the server material.
(They aren't that bad, but they do need the elbows off the table reminder from time to time. And one is a veggie hater )
Ask for a playful server - great tip.

I was able to get Sci-Fi a different day w/o MIL. (I know a lot of folks aren't fans, but we love the Reubens and it is a must for our kids).

So, I love it when all works out!

50s Prime Time is so much fun. They have good food but I book it mainly for the atmosphere and the hilarious servers! I'm sure you would really enjoy it.
