We had not been here for 4 or 5 years....used to be one of our favorites but could never get a reservation in recent times. Had a 1:55 ressie today. We arrived 10 minutes or so early and were seated within a couple of minutes. Took a while for a server to appear (that remained a theme throughout the meal). DH started with the Lobster chopped salad, I had the cheddar soup. Bread arrived with the soup and salad and I am happy to say the pretzel bread did not disappoint! The mutigrain rolls were excellent as well. I honestly could have eaten pretzel bread and soup and been happy.... so wonderful.
DH loved the salad. Half a dozen large pieces of lobster, plus greens, avacado, egg, grape tomatoes and some other good stuff. Just enough dressing to add interest.
DH had the mushroom filet. It was cooked perfectly and a lovely piece of meat. I for some reason was not feeling steak today so I ordered the lobster salad and the lobster pontine. My goodness....that would have easily fed 3 hungry people. There was a huge dish of potatoes topped with what appeared to be 1/2 pound of lobster in a very delicious but rich sauce. I was starving when we arrived but could not finish 1/4th of the potatoes. I did manage to pick out most of the huge chunks of lobster though
) Initially I was disappointed that the lobster mac and cheese was no longer on the menu but I got over it pretty quick after this dish arrived!
Server was friendly but the service was just barely OK....long gap (like 40 minutes) from the time soup and salad was finished until entre arrived. Water and iced tea glasses remained empty for long periods. When glasses were refilled there was no ice and both water and tea were tepid.
All in all I would give the food an A, the service a C and the atmosphere a C-. It is loud, tables are very close together. The food was very good especially for park food but if you are looking for a lovely dining experience I would probably look elsewhere.
Tab for 2 including tax and tip (with TIW discount) was $108
