:headache: Hello all, I elected to schedule a morning ceremony to avoid (:rotfl2: ) the August humidity. We are marrying at the Swan's west courtyard and I am looking for a good suggestion for lunch after the ceremony. I was thinking maybe the GFC. Would that be totally inappropriate? The wedding itself will be fairly casual and we only have 15 inc. us. There are just so few options at that time of the day! I have read good things about "Fresh" at the Dolphin here on DISboards but they told me that they no longer offer the buffet so, nobody seems to have a feeling for what the food is currently like. What do y'all suggest? Thank you!!!!!!!!!!:listen:

Oh God forget about GFC..trust me,eat some where else...I love the GF but that restaurant is not that great..I had issues before I even stepped foot in the place so I wish I would have went with another restaurant that was casual rather than a pretty one. I had a problem with one of the managers because she gave me a hard time about the menu and never put my personalized menus out for my husband and I and was extremely hard to get a hold of and on the wedding day when we got there they said they didn't have my reservation, but then they found it and while i was eating they found another ressie under my name and I said no it's not me,this is my party right here and I got an attitude from the guy.

I say anywhere at swan and dolphin will b fine..they made a nee restaurant thaat is supposed to be like central park in NY,it look's cool! You have anywhere at the boardwalk you could eat, beach club and yaght club

go to allears.net and check out the menus there and see what you like.

I wish I would have just eaten at spoodles because it was right there on the boardwalk..try and stay local so you don't have to travel all over the place.

I think Lynn had her reception at Grand Floridian Cafe. And maybe Amanda too.... Other places to think about would be Kona (in the Poly) Or maybe the very last breakfast seating at 1900 Park Faire (so that you can get pics with the characters in your dress)

We had our wedding luncheon at Portobello Yacht Club in Downtown Disney. We had a great experience and I would highly recommend them. The food was really good and the price was very reasonable. We had a four course meal consisting of flatbread pizza for an appetizer, salad, a choice of roasted chicken or salmon for the entree and then our wedding cake along with HUGE chocolate covered strawberries. (Can you tell I loved the strawberries? Lol.) I want to say it was around $35 per person? We also had two kids in our party and their meals were really inexpensive. We sat it a semi-private area and they printed out really cute personalized menus for us. All of the staff was very nice and very accomodating! I can't say enough good things about them!

Good luck with your decision. I know how tough it can be scheduling a wedding lunch vs. dinner. There just aren't a lot of choices. I have also heard good things about Fulton's Crab House, also in Downtown Disney. I think California Grill does private luncheons, too, so you may want to look into that as well.

I say 1900 Park Fare... its so much fun!!!

yeah if you want to go to GF then I say go there....I want to eat there one day, wish that would have been open around lunch time. The step sisters are a riot!

Hi, I am also doing a morning wedding at Disney World. I wanted to have my guests, small party like yours, eat a late breakfast at 1900 Park Fare with the characters and yummy buffet. However, i cant b/c it's going to be New Years Eve and i dont want to get closed out of the theme parks, so instead of 1900 i am having my guests go to Epcot and we'll meet up at a restaurant there for a "reception." However, i cant wear my dress but i was already feeling self conscious about wearing it in 1900.

Ok, I will most DEF. follow Lynn's advice and skip it. Unfortunately, we won't make it to 1900 park timewise... Maybe I will look into Kona. We had some great meals there last thanksgiving. I totally forgot that Kona would be open then !!!! Also looking up the menu for Portobello;) Thanks!!!!!!:yay:

We opted for informal and fun. We changed into park clothes and headed to MGM (now DHS) for lunch at 50's Prime Time and had a blast ! Certainly not traditional wedding fare, but we are far from traditional, so it worked well for us !

Sounds fun swmhc!!! Good idea...am thinking I will want to wear my dress but the more I ponder, the less appealing it sounds. It is likely that I will melt!!! We considered changing and going right to the park, I dunno. :confused3 Need to fig. this out soon tho!

No suggestions, but just wanted to mention that you're getting married two days after me! :cool1: Maybe I'll see you there! We're at YCG and staying at the YC all week!

I know how you feel about the heat and the dress. We go to Disney every year in August and I'm really nervous. I generally have trouble with the heat if I'm not really really careful, but August was our only option. But I'm hoping for the best and my planner already knows that I want to spend as little time outside as possible.

I actually switched and was going to eat at Kona for a while but then went back to GFC because of the prettyness(haha I just made that up) of the GFC,because I was in my dress.

Ok if you are changing,I say go in the park and eat..you could change into a cute white sun dress and wear your bridal ears!!So cute!!!! Do you have a favorite restaurant in the parks?

1900 PF is only open for breakfast and Dinner. Depending on what time your ceremony is, maybe you could have a late breakfast there.

Well...now that you mention it Lynn, I do love Marrakesh in Epcot. Is that going to be too "wild" for my Grandma though?:lmao: :rotfl2:

HAHA I have not tried it there yet,I'm afraid lol...I hear it is good but I am so picky lol. My oldest SIL tried to get me to eat there when we went a couple years ago and I wouldn't try it lol..I was younger at the time, only 19 so I was pickier than I am now.

What do you like from there..talk me into trying it lol.

if it is your favorite I say go for it! You never know, grandma might like it..I thought my mom wouldn't like Ohananas but she loved it,was one of her favorite meals in disney!

My mother is even afraid of the menu... I can't even imagine at the look my grandmother would give me about it... "I know this must be a joke, but it's not really funny."

We all really like bluezoo at the Dolphin, but I'm not sure if they do lunch.

Hmmmmm.... now picturing MY Grandma's look.......
Anyway, I really like that place! If you are ever feeling adventurous, give it a try;) The couscous (basically tiny balls of pasta) is amazing and the bastillia (chicken in phyllo dough) IS JUST UNREAL. I got hooked on Moroccan food in college and can't find anywhere around here that is even half as good as Marrakesh. Used to be a few places, but rumor has it the owners were deported:eek: ...What else is good in Epcot, for a diverse group? A something for everyone kind of place? DF likes Japanese but that won't be open either!:faint: Anyone done living seas? Are the non- fish dishes any good?
