We've booked two of these, but we'll probably only get to one and cancel the other. I have two questions:

1. How much food is involved. They start rather early (10:30), so I'm not certain if you get a full lunch, or just a tasting. I could not get Le Cellier for dinner, so booked a 2:00 the same day as a late lunch and I'm trying to decide whether to keep it (we'll just skip breakfast!).

2. Is it worth doing two of these if we can fit it in our schedule? Different Chef's and different wines, so it could be worth it. What do you folks think?

Thanks for any advice from those who did one of these. -John

Has no one been to one of these this year or in years past? Should I post this in the dining section of the forum?

Hi:

My wife and I did a Lunch and Learn last year. It was with Todd English and the Edna Valley winery. Todd was great but the food..not so good. The portions were very small. Almost comical is size. For examble one of the dishes was a consomme and gnochetti. It was serve to us and even Todd was shocked to see that we were given lukewarm consomme and one gnochetti. The other courses were of similar size. They were however were very liberal with the wine.

Overall I thought the food was Ok. We did enjoy Todd English who was very funny and the Edna Valley wine was great. We were glad we attended but did not think it was worth the cost.

Thanks Timbo! Perhaps a 2:00 Late Lunch is definately in order. I've never heard of either of the chefs we were able to schedule. I'd have loved to have seen Todd English (Olives in Boston is fantastic)!

I've done 2 lunch and learns - one this year and one two years ago, and thoroughly enjoyed both. I found the portions fine for lunch and both times I really enjoyed the food, wine and the presentation. I can't imagine going out to eat afterwards. This year, that was all I ate until I went to the PFFTS that night.

There's a good review of the one I went to with John Ash
