Lunch at the Poly or somewhere else on the monorail?

I'm expecting to be checked in to the Poly at around lunch time. Any suggestions on where to eat on the dining plan (table service)? Thanks!

For lunch, there is Kona Cafe at the Poly. I enjoyed the food two years ago but this past trip last April, I was disappointed in the food. Both times I had bad service :( I've also eaten at the Wave - had great service and great food there and they are open for lunch. I've also had the 'tea' experience at the GF. It was so-so - some of the food and tea was great but some of the food and the service was bad.

If you are on the regular dining plan, I'd suggest using your table credits in the evening and going to Ohana (YUMMY!!!). You could eat at Captain Cooks for lunch (I love the grown up grilled cheese and their homeade chips!!) It would also free you from the pressure if you didn't arrive on time. Of course, if you are on the deluxe plan, I'd say go to Kona (I still have hopes for them and many other people have great reviews). That way, you don't have to travel right when you arrive and feel any pressure to make it to another resort on time.

I have also enjoyed lunch at The Wave at the Contemporary. It is usually not very crowded and service was excellent. I would highly suggest the grilled chicken sandwich with the goat cheese. Mmmmmm. :)

I enjoyed Kona Cafe the 2 times we've eaten there. :thumbsup2 But I would also consider Grand Floridian Cafe or Wave. Since you have the monorail it's easy enough to get around and nothing like starting your vaca off with a monorail ride! :goodvibes

If Grand Floridian Cafe is on the DDP you might want to check that menu. It's a place for some tasty food but not a "big production".:earsboy:

Another vote for the GF Cafe...

We really love it there, good food with a nice atmosphere.

Maybe stroll around the grounds of the GF after lunch then a short walk or monorail ride back to The Poly.

Good times ! :thumbsup2

I love Kona for lunch! I especially love the Wasabi Bloody Mary...very nice way to kick off a Disney vacation! ;)

My recommendations are Kona Cafe or The Grand Floridian Cafe.

We love to go to the Grand Floridian Cafe for lunch. We prefer their Cobb Salad to the Brown Derby's.

Here is another vote for Kona. :thumbsup2 My family ate there earlier this year for lunch and we had a fantastic meal. Since you are staying at the Poly, Kona would be so convenient and quicker which is a plus since you likely will be hungry after your travels.

I vote for counter service at Captain Cooks, and saving the Table Service until dinner. That's what works for us anyway :)

Great suggestions. I think I will save our TS for dinner, Ohana perhaps :thumbsup2 Thanks everyone!
