Hi-
My 20-year-old daughter and I will be touring the AK on Wednesday, May 17th. I believe the park opens at 9:00 and we plan to basically commando tour that day in order to completely finish up AK in one day. I'm just starting to think it may be a good idea to get an ADR at the Rainforest so that we have a nice break in the day in which we can relax and get out of the heat. So, we're thinking we'll try the RFC. We have been to the one at the Mall of America in Minnesota, so basically know what to expect.

Anyway, does this sound like a good idea? If so, what time would be good for a break - around 1:00? Also, any suggestions on good food choices there?

Thanks for your help!

My family loves the Rainforest, we usually stop around 1:30 or 2:00pm. We always get the Shrimp en Brochette. It is good, it is a grilled shrimp wrapped in bacon & stuffed with cheese. I really like it. I also have had the banana's foster crepes - yum! My kids love the pizza. My husband had some kind of fish, & he thought it was pretty good. On my last trip the food was not the best, but the atmosphere is so neat. So we will keep this a must do for my family.

I think that's a good idea, you'll be in relaxing for a bit, we like RFC, that is the best idea rather then leave AK for another adr in another park. Have a FUNtastic time :cool1:

What happened to us,we had a 1:00 ADR in Decemeber(2005) on a Thursday our last visit. Arrived at 12:40 and checked in,at 1:30 we asked when we might be seated and was told it would be at least 45 minute's.I like RFC but not going to wait and hour and 15 minutes past a ADR we made 4 month's in advance. We were hungry so we went to Flame Tree BBQ and lad a great lunch. Myself and my wife went on our honeymoon trip last march and we loved it!!!
We made reservations but it was packed and they were a little behind but we got to shop in there gift store and found some great bargains. The Tuscan Chicken is awesome!!!!

Thanks for the opinions and advice on the RFC. Any other comments on a good time to schedule an ADR for lunch?

At this point, since you plan on going May 17, I would just call and see whats available first and decide from there.
I called to make a dinner ADR at RFC a few weeks ago for my trip (4/22-5/1) and they were booked almost every night! there was only one day left with the time I wanted mine around!
Good luck!

2 years ago we booked a 12:00pm ADR for a party of 7 and were seated within 10 min of arriving. Also, we went to the park on the day of EMH and were finished with everything by 2:00pm. We had plenty of time to head back to the room for a nap and shower and then to Downtown Disney that night for shopping.

We always do this when we go to AK. We go in July and the RFC is a perfect break from the heat of the day. This July we have a 1:00pm ADR scheduled. Try the Rasta Pasta if you like dishes like that, it's actually quite good. It has chicken, penne pasta, broccoli, spinach and walnut pesto tossed in a light garlic alfredo sauce. I get it almost everytime I go.

At the RFC you can buy this card it is the Safari Club. I think I paid $10 for it, but I believe it now cost $15. Anyway you get either 10% off your meal or a free appt. The best part is you get seated without ADR's, at the next available time. You do have to use the card at least once per year to keep it active. They also send you birthday gift certificates for $10. I love my card.
