Lunch At Tangaroa Terrace

I am thinking that on one of our days we might catch the monorail from DL over to the DLHotel and have lunch at Tangaroa Terrace. I know it doesn't take reservations but has anyone done this and if so could they give me a run down of what to expect. We are thinking of heading there for an early (11:30) lunch. There is no availability at Trader Sams but would it be likely they might have walk ups.

1130am, you should be able toe easily get a walk up table at Trader Sams (they open at 1130am). Especially on a weekday.

Tangaroa Terrace is just a counter service place. You can mobile order and choose a pickup window that suits your needs that day. There is PLENTY of seating at this place. It's usually practically deserted midday.

It's no different than any other counter service place. There is also a bar right next to it where you can get Dole Whip for dessert, and the serving is WAY bigger than you get in the park for the same price. They serve it to you in a 12oz cup.

Ooooh sounds good, we have never tried a Dole Whip and it was on my bucket list for this trip so that sounds like a great plan.

I was just looking at the menu for Tangaroa Terrace! Oh man, here I have been stressing over a Trader's Sam reservation but I think this is a great! If the monorail is running, a bonus - if not, still looks appealing.

It's literally the same food menu. And the next door bar makes better drinks than Trader Sam's (I said what I said).

I was chatting with the bartender at Trader Sam’s this week and he says that unless it is Saturday night, you will be able to get in if you just walk up and get added to the list. The app will say there is no more room on the waitlist and there will be no reservations available but you will get in. I saw it ourselves two days in a row. There were tons of open seats inside. Seems they are artificially inflating the wait.

Thank you so much for this. I haven't been able to get any reservations that I want and I am hoping that perhaps more will open up closer to our trip and or we may be able to get walk ups. I really don't think the booking system is a true reflection that the restaurant is booked out. I also hope that by the end of April they will be more back to normal staffing levels and the restaurants may be able to take more people. Fingers crossed.
