Lunch at Big River Grille

It doesn't look like Big River Grille is accepting ADRs on Disney's site, but I see you can reserve on OpenTable. We plan on having lunch there one day in a couple of weeks when my dad comes to visit us at the resort, but I don't want to make a reservation because he's coming from Tampa and I don't know if he'll be running late, etc. According to OpenTable on that date/time, there is plenty of availability, but wanted to get feedback from anyone who has been lately (especially during lunch) if they think a walk-up is doable. Thanks.

It wasn't very crowded in April.
FYI, you cannot use your magic band or charge to your room as they aren't owned by Disney, if that matters.

OpenTable let’s you cancel without penalty so no risk in booking it. We did walk up for lunch last month and it was an hour wait.

Yeah, that kinda stinks, but I don't really have a choice. It doesn't look like there is anything else (table service) in the area that's opened for lunch. No ESPN Club right now -- and Ale & Compass doesn't appear to be opened for lunch these days. I wouldn't mind getting on the Skyliner and going to a resort for counter-service, but I'm sure they'll want to be waited on.

You're right, I went ahead and booked it based on when I think we'd be there. But like you said, no real risk, so no why not.

Is that certain? We were there just four weeks ago and paid with MagicBand without issue from what I remember. There are no discounts however. Many restaurants at WDW aren't owned by Disney.

We were there in April, tried to pay that way and were told that we couldn't as they weren't owned by Disney, so you couldn't charge it to your room.

we just called and were able to get dinner reservations for July. Their number is (407) 751-1544.

We had lunch there last week--5/10/21 and had no issues getting a seat. We also paid with a MB AND received the AP discount based upon the sliders on the band.

Maybe they have changed their policy since re-opening? Or maybe the staff wasn't properly informed in April? Would have been nice to use the AP, but not a big deal.
