We are getting married at SBP on august 1st at 10am , I am very undecided of what to do for a luncheon after the ceremony , would have prefered a brunch , but there is nothing available at 11:30 , lunch options are few for big groups.
I didn't want to host a private catered event only because of the 7500 min. otherwise it would have been a perfect option.
we want to keep the costs down , looking at 20-30 PP , I got some prix fix menues from fulton's and WP , but they are not very exciting menues, and we would prefer to stay in the boardwalk area if possible , any ideas :confused3

Fresh Mediterranean Market and Garden Grove at the Swan & Dolphin are open through lunchtime. You could take a Friendship boat over there after the ceremony. FigmentFan814 had a pre-wedding lunch at Fresh and they were very accommodating to her large party—you might check out her trip report: http://www.msn.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1752447

I actually would prefer a brunch..... it's making me crazy that it is impossible to find either a prix fix menu for lunch besides restaurants that are not Disney owned , or a brunch that I can get a Disney manager to guarantee.
I also do not understand the whole minimum thing , why do I have to reach a minimum if I paid for my package , am paying for enhancements, and unless I want to drop another 4grand , cannot book a catered event that we will pay for, I just don't get it :headache:

I have tried it, they cannot guarantee me brunch , nor can they guarantee that my party will be seated together

I haven't been lurking among the wedding pages long, just trying to decide if this is an option for us, but I did do some research. We wanted to get married in the Japanese Pavillion, the wedding there is only available at 9am and I too wanted to do a brunch. They offer farewell brunches at a few restaurants, so why can't they do a brunch for a reception? the Yacht and Beach club does a brunch, try that.

Well Japan is only available for Wishes weddings...so to meet the Wishes minimum you'd have to do a catered event through Disney Weddings. You can't just go through the restaurant, have a regular meal, and have it count towards your minimum. I think OP is trying to avoid having to go through DFTW because then it triggers a $7,500 Escape minimum, and the restaurants in the area seem to stop serving brunch to the public at the time she wants.

Because Disney doesn't think it's worth the effort to arrange a catered event for an Escape-sized group unless they're guaranteed to make at least $7,500.

Disney restaurants are required to tell you that they can't guarantee large parties will sit together. It's rare that you hear of a party not being accommodated, though. Usually there's no trouble pushing the required amount of tables together.

I know this doesn't fit your location criteria, but have you considered The Wave at the Contemporary? They have a private room with low lunchtime minimums, and they start lunch at 12pm. Also, I'll bet they would work with you on the menu to incorporate brunch-y stuff if you wanted it, and they might even be able to get you in sooner than 12 because you're paying for the private room.

yes, I did get 3 menus from the Wave , but was very dissapointed , I was hoping it would be closer to their original menu , but is was completely different , can I create/ask for a menu created from their original menu ?

I decided to contact the wave (after all , he did ask me my thoughts on what he sent me ;) )

I asked for certain items to be exchanged or added to the menu..... I am hoping this will work out , I would love some crabbenedict or sweet potato pancakes after the hustle and bustle of the ceremony.

Hello and congrats !!!!:yay: We doing a VR on 8/1/2011 at SBP at 2:30 .....

Your plans for brunch at The Wave (if you can get the menu you want) sounds like a great option.....

Good luck with the rest of your plans - maybe we'll catch a glimpse of each other that day :thumbsup2

We are in a similar situation, looking to a place to have lunch that can seat us. Can I ask to see the menus the wave gave you? Or a contact number or e-mail address? Thanks!

Just thought I'd add what we've decided to do. We're getting married at SBP on July 27th at 10am and we were undecided what to do for a lunchtime reception type gathering and studied all the options. There are 10 of us going out and we wanted to keep costs to a minimum.
We've ended up making a reservation through Disney Dining for The Grand Floridian Tea Room to do an afternoon tea, sandwiches, cakes, strawberries and cream and champagne cocktails.
We're really hoping it's going to be a good choice for lunchtime and then me and the hubby-to-be have booked a posh meal for the two of us for later on that night.
Hope your lunchtime menu works out and they'll be able to do what you asked for.

if you PM me your e-mail , I would be happy to forward you the e-mail the manager of the wave sent me, then you will have menus, pricing and the contact name and e-mail
