Lulu201's Healthy Living Journal--Just trying my best to walk the walk! Come on by!

Geesh, I have about 2 minutes here! The weekend was very nice--busy--but nice. My family spoiled me yesterday with breakfast in bed and lovely gifts. I could get used to that treatment! :p

I ate off plan, however the ENTIRE weekend. Between eating poorly and my allergies, I'm feeling kinda crummy, but it's a :sunny: new day, and I'm eager to get back in the groove.

Here's the plan:

1. Devotions--still have to do them
2. Vitamins :)
3. Water--12 oz. done
4. Exercise--hope to get in a 3 miler today
5. Food--english muffin w/pb for breakfast w/coffee, yogurt and walnuts for a snack.
6. Scale--just couldn't face it this morning

I've got to go pick up the dog from his hair appointment! :p

Erin

I feel your pain. I'm also dealing with the "abandon healthy eating" aftermath and allergies. I DID face the scale this morning - you did the right thing by skipping it. :p If you have any non-antihistamine tips for dealing with itchy eyes & itchy nose, let me know. :confused3 At this point, I'm snorting the Zicam nasal spray stuff - does help a bit.

We'll be eating healthy today and we'll feel worlds better tomorrow. ::yes::

Soak up the :sunny: during your walk today. We're going to make it a good one! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

OK, let me think about yesterday. It ended up being like this: devotions :) ,
vitamins :) , water :) , exercise :) (4.25 miles in 55 minutes and that included a 5 minute warm up and a 5 minute cool down!), food :guilty: --I did OK until I came home and made myself a sundae!!!!!!, and scale :guilty: .

Today's a new day, right? :flower: I can try again, right? :flower: So, let me go forward and not look back:

1. Devotions :)
2. Vitamins :)
3. Water--already started
4. Exercise--I'll do 30 minutes on my bike
5. Food--slice of toast w/pb, coffee w/cream=5. A.M. snack will be yogurt and walnuts=4. Lunch will be tuna and crackers=6. P.M. snack will be an apple=2. Dinner will be spaghetti and a salad; I'm not too worried about the point value if the portion is medium and all the other eating of the day stays on track. Late night snack will be s.f. cookie bar and milk. That sounds like lots of food, doesn't it! :p
6. Scale-- :) At least I faced it. . .177.

The next few days are going to be a haul. I work all day today then have a mega-rehearsal at church. Tomorrow and Thursday are both 12 hour deals. My head is stuffed to the max, but I'm just going to step my way through it all and know that the weekend is coming!

Here I go--
Erin

Edit: subbed grapes in for the apple and had that in the a.m. I'll eat the yogurt in a few minutes. Had the tuna and a chicken tender :rolleyes1 for lunch. Did 25 minutes in the :sunny: on the bike, walked the last 5 'cause I got a flat tire! Haven't had enough water. . .I'll go get some now.

Thanks for stopping by, Doreen. :cool1: :cool1: We're walking this work-walk together!

E.

:sunny: Today IS a new day!! :sunny:

Your exercise yesterday was GREAT and I'm sure your .... um ..... "treat" in the evening didn't do too much damage. :p

You can get through these long days, one step at a time.

Your menu for today looks great and you NEED all that food. Face it, these long days take their toll and your body needs fuel to keep up this pace. You've done an awesome job of balancing point control with your need for fuel. Well done! :flower1:

Just keep reciting Phillipians 4:13. Know that God and I are both on your side, sending you strength for the long days ahead.

Almost forgot - no chance of KofP on Saturday for me. :( It's PROM DAY for DS so we'll be spending the day helping him get the car washed, pick up the corsage, planning spots for taking pictures, etc. Hard to believe my baby is a junior and attending the PROM!! :)

Wishing you peace and a respite from your allergies in the hectic whirl of the days ahead.

A flat tire on your bike???? :( Thank goodness you were fairly close to home.

Today will be a long one, but I know you can make it through. I'm sending some extra reserve-energy :wizard: - put it in your pocket and take it out when you need it. ::yes:: Oh, and I sent enough that you can share it with those around you who are also feeling weary and tired. :p You can sprinkle some on them when they aren't looking. ;)

 for your day, dear WISH-sis. I'm going to check my calendar and PM you with some possible dates for us to get together. Todd was so bummed last night when I told him you were going to be at KofP on Saturday.

OH, MAN, I AM DOGGIN' IT TODAY! If there were a swollen-headed, green yuk-nosed smilie, I'd put it right here, 'cause that's me today!!!!

There, just had to get that out.

Whatever allergies I had have turned into some kind of nasty sinus infection or something, complete with the worst complication of all for a music teacher:
LARYNGITIS!!! I can't sing at all and have only a rough, gravel-sounding, bass voice to speak with (gee, I hope I don't scare the kids), but I am going to work NO MATTER WHAT! Today's the last day of classes for my Wednesday groups and I WANT TO GET THIS DONE! I'm going to get to work early so I can re-write my lessons to be as vocally friendly as possible, then after about a half hour of instructional activities, I'm going to give the class refreshments for the last 15 minutes (hey, it's an "end of the semester" party!).

Yesterday I earned 5 smilies for everything but food. I hate to admit it, but medicating myself with carbs and orange juice just seemed like what I should do when I got home last night!

The plan for today is like this:

1. Devotions :) I love this thought: "A friend knows the song in my heart and sings it to me when my memory fails." Boy, it reminds me of my friends on the WISH! :grouphug:
2. Vitamins--soon
3. Water--will need this in gallons today!
4. Exercise--cannot even think about it.
5. Food--ooh, I'm not off to a good start. For breakfast I had raisin bran, a slice of rye toast, 1/2 an orange, and coffee. I just feel like that was way too much. I have no plans for the rest of the day. I'll take an apple and an orange to work--maybe some yogurt, but I don't really care what I eat today. I know I'm supposed to care MORE when I'm tired or sick, but I don't. :guilty:
6. Scale--I think someone stole it on me. :rolleyes1

Survival is the name of the game today. Thanks for the :wizard: , Doreen. I think you should get a "large quantity discount" for all that you're going to have to toss over me today! :p

I'm looking Upward and moving onward :flower: --
Erin

Hi Erin,

I'm sorry that you're not feeling well today. I am sending some prayers and :wizard: your way to help you get better soon! :goodvibes

I hope you have a blessed Thursday! :grouphug:

When you're feeling sick, you eat and drink whatever "sounds good" to your body. You may need some extra carbs if you're fighting a sinus infection. I hope you're feeling better very soon.

It's Thursday and the weekend is within sight. We'll get through another long day today and then we can start the party tomorrow morning. Hang in there and drink some extra orange juice for that vitamin C. :sunny: Cut out anything that is not eseential today and find time to just close your eyes and breathe, even if you have to hide in the bathroom to do it. ::yes::

I've got even more of that special reserve-energy :wizard: , and you can have as much as you need, sweetie.

Love ya,

Thanks, you guys. If you were all closer, I'd take turns laying my big heavy head on your shoulders for a little pity party. I'm still doggin' it today. . .I have even less of a voice than yesterday. Still, I got through all of my classes and most of my lessons. Today, though, I've had to cancel most of what I had planned for the day just so I can rest my voice and get in the OJ. I'll stay at home until around noon, go in and do some paperwork, and then teach classes and lessons from 3-7:30.

Oh, heck. Am I supposed to have a plan today? Yesterday I got :) for devotions, vitamins, and . . . . . . .I think that's it. :sad2: Today will probably be pretty much the same, but I'm going to try to drink A LOT!

1. Devotions :) I read the same one as Doreen today.
2. Vitamins--not yet
3. Water--had a little
4. Exercise--nope
5. Food--whatever
6. Scale--what's a scale?

Even though I sound completely miserable, I had a great day at work yesterday and feel :) about everything except this stupid allergy/cold thing.
I'm going to go curl up with my puppy and a good teacher's book and let the morning slip past!

Erin

Good morning dear Erin,

I'm sorry that you're still not feeling well. Sending some extra prayers and :wizard: your way today.

Take good care of you! :grouphug:

Hey, Tracy. Thanks for that :wizard: . I needed it. DD is home from school today with a sore throat. . .I don't know if it's allergy-related or viral. I guess time will tell.

I'd like to say I feel better and I have a voice, but I don't, so let's just drop the subject, OK? I know :sunny: times are just around the corner, I just gotta keep walkin'! I was up coughing a chunk of the night, so I hope to get in a nap before I go to work--if I even get there. I know that any attempt at talking at all is really damaging my voice even more at this point--I've never had laryngitis this badly--so if I go in, I'll have to commit myself to the fact I've got to write and gesture to my students. I only have three hours worth of lessons, and the kids may think it's quite a novel approach to piano instruction, so we'll see. :p Yesterday I made it for 3.5 hours, but never finished the last hour I'd planned.

Yesterday I earned :) for devotions, vitamins, and water. I'm going to try for the same today.

I'm off into the new day--
Erin

OK, you've tried to push through this but you're not getting better. Now Mom Doe-Doe thinks it's time for you to rest and recover. Stick to the bare necessities today. Eat chicken soup. Drink orange juice. Throw out the points and give your body what it's craving. You and DD can take care of each other today.

I like your plan - devotions, vitamins and water will all help you. The rest can wait until you're well. Seriously think about work today. I know rescheduling can be a pain but you don't want to spread whatever you have to your students and the rest would do you a world of good.

Take extra good care of you today, dear princess: Lulu, for you are worth it.

Here's some healing :wizard: for you and DD to share and a gentle  from me to you. Be well.

Thanks, Mama Doe-Doe. *sniff, sniff.* I needed that TLC. I think I'll go put my jammies on again and think about work later. :cloud9:

I totally agree with Doe. STAY HOME and take care of yourself/dd. You will be better off in the end. You don't want to spread this to your students and then they give it back to you. Take care and eat that chicken soup , it really does have medicinal healing.

Dear WISH-sis, I hope today finds you and DD feeling better. I know you've got big plans for shopping, but try to take it easy. Rest, rest, rest as much as possible.

Sending more healing :wizard: and a gentle . Did you eat some chicken soup yet??

Love ya,
Doreen

OK, so I didn't stay home, but I did get a good nap in the a.m. and that got me through the rest of the day. I didn't have chicken soup, but does chicken parmesian count? :p DD had a good rest, too, and is feeling much better. At least she's well enough to shop. ;)

Here's how the day is looking:

1. Devotions--not yet
2. Vitamins--not yet
3. Water--had a little
4. Exercise--none planned
5. Food--raisin bran for breakfast, chick. sandwich for lunch
6. Scale--oh, man, it was not pretty. :)

I've been to work and to the bank and will get out to the mall with DD and friend for awhile. After that my plan is to come home and crash for the rest of the weekend. My lack of exercise is making me feel kind of blah (along with my big head cold/allergy thing); if we get home early enough, I'll take a walk around the neighborhood to pep me up. I'm not feeling much like a half-marathoner long distance athlete, that's for sure. My training schedule is far from my mind. I wonder if it'll come back?

OK, I'm going to do my devotions and take my vitamins--
Erin

I am in the low bend of the wave right now. I'm still riding it, but barely.
Yesterday I earned a smilie for getting on the scale. I forgot devotions, my vitamins, the water, the exercise, and the food. I did get a lot accomplished, though, but I think I'm going to have to pay the price today--I'm wiped out.

Yesterday after teaching, I ran to the bank and to Kmart for some gardening supplies. I did a little planting, and then DDs friend came over to go to the mall. We left at 1 and got home at 9:40 p.m.! To me that's a mega day of shopping! I have to say, though, that DD got the most beautiful dress for her dance at Jessica McClintock--she looks just stunning, if I may say so myself:)--so it was worth the long day.

Today I'm at home. Period. Going nowhere, doing nothing except some laundry. I have a little bit of a voice, but if I don't rest, I don't know how I'm going to manage through next week. I've already had a glass of OJ; I'll round up some chicken soup for lunch.

The plan:

1. Devotions--I'm going to read the Max Lucado book, "Come Thirsty."
2. Vitamins--they're out on the table
3. Water--I'm going to drink a gallon!
4. Exercise--not today, but maybe tomorrow
5. Food--breakfast was the English muffin special, lunch will be soup. Dinner, I really don't care.
6. Scale--you didn't think I'd do that to myself two days in a row, did you?

I miss feeling well and strong. Hopefully I'll kick this thing with some good rest today.

Erin

Thanks, Tracy, for those hugs. I feel better already. :goodvibes

Today is my mom's 81st birthday. :bday: She's such a special lady. My sister and her husband are visiting her; I'm happy that she's got some company.

I'm not even going to talk about my cold-allergy-laryngitis thing other than to say I'm still holding on to my box of tissues. Life goes on, you know what I'm saying?

Yesterday I earned smilies for devotions and water and napping. :p Today's shaping up like this:

1. Devotions: God is the Great Physician. :)
2. Vitamins: :)
3. Water--three glasses down
4. Exercise--took Mickey to the park and will go out for a walk before noon. No running, but probably a couple of miles. I need the :sunny: . :)
5. Food--raisin bran, coffee. I'll stop for a snack around 10 a.m.; probably yogurt or an orange. Lunch will be tuna.
6. Scale-- :) It's not looking good, friends. :sad2: I'm back to where I was 2 weeks ago.

I'm discouraged about my exercise routine, but I'm trying not to be too negative with myself. I'm just doing what I can do. I'm going to try not to make broad generalizations (like "I can't do that half marathon in Sept., who am I kidding?"), because I know it's my fatigue talking. One day at a time.

OK, it's time to attack my "to do" list. It's going to be a pretty slow attack, but I know if I accomplish some of the things on it, I'll feel less like a blob.

I'm off into the day--
Erin

Edit: had my yogurt and have accomplished a lot around the house. Walk is next!

Edit: Lunch was a chicken salad, not tuna, and a glass of milk. I'll have the tuna when I get home tonight. Snack will be a soft pretzel eaten in between students. I enjoyed my walk in the sunshine tremendously. Tomorrow my goal is to do the same. OK, I'm headed back to work.
