We rode during a preview a week before opening. Our first pass walking by Lugigi's, the line was about an hour and we didn't want to wait that long ... came by a little later and the line was a managable 20 minutes.
The queue is very fun ... lots of "memorabilia" from races all over ... i liked looking at it and I think that this was very well thought our and clever. Nice details.
The ride itself was fun ... DH, DS4 and I laughed a lot and kept changing our minds about which way to lean. the balls seem to be put there to just riders a sense of something to do with the tire -- like, oh, let's try to go over there to get a ball and so that would make us all have a common goal and "reason" to drive our tire in a certain direction.
We only went on it once, but I had fun. I just now asked my husband (about a month since we came back) and he said he remembered it being boring.

Kiddo is asleep, but while I think he liked it, he doesn't talk about it, so it must not have made much of an impresion.
Bottom line - this ride can be fun - I wouldn't make any judgements before riding it. Your tolerance for the line's wait time is your own decision, obviously, but in my opinion htere no reason to wait for more than 20 minutes or so for it.
have fun!
