I know this might be a daft question, but i have totally forgot what i did last time, when going a broad.

Do i put luggage tags on every piece of hand luggage, i have been given 6 tags, but with 5 in our family and all paying passengers. I dont seem to have enough tags for hand and hold luggage.

Could some body put me straight.

Thanks Marv

We put tags on everything, including pushchairs! They're very mean only sending you 6 tags! You will be able to get more when you check in at the airport, but it's not a good time to start writing out labels...

I would ring up your TA or tour operator and ask for more labels.
It's a good idea to label EVERYTHING but only the outbound details and NEVER put your address only your home telephone number.

We only ever put tags on luggage going into the hold. My brother doesn't bother putting tags on anything - he reckons the sticky tags they put on at the desk contain sufficient information to trace any lost luggage. I'm sure he's right and they're extremely difficult to remove, so they're not likely to fall off.

I'm sure your brother is right, UKDEB, but the tags do enable you to check it's yours when it comes along on the baggage carousel. So many cases look the same. We have had the sticky airline baggage tags peel off on occasions though. We actually have those extremely "tacky" straps woven with our surname for ease of identification.

Hi

I only tag the cases and bags going into the hold and as previously mentioned I do not put my home address on the labels on the outbound trip.

We were last out to collect our bags at sanford in Feb and even though we had tagged and the airline had tagged, (and I had a coloured ribbon round the handle!!!) someone took our case and left their own.

The staff there were really good and ran into the other building, where you sort out cars etc and managed to get it back again. They said that it happens nearly everyday because people dont check their labels properly.

I now stick a label (with details of our name and flights etc) on the inside of the suitcase as well so that if the tags come away there is still another way to identify our cases.

Wheezie
