Luggage when resort hopping?

Thanks to the Dis, I know that resort hopping is a possibility!

My husband and I are planning a quick "long" weekend in May. Because we will arrive late on Thursday, I'm thinking of saving some $$$ and staying a value for one night. (My mom and I stayed at AoA in Nov and loved it.)

On Friday, we'll move to the Grand Floridian. How do we handle luggage? Moving it isn't a problem, we will have a car. But I would never leave luggage in the car for a long period of time.

Will the Grand Floridan be able to safely hold our luggage until our room is ready?

Thank you!

Yes, the Bell Desk will check your luggage and give you a receipt.

Yes, bell services at the GF will hold your luggage. If your room is not ready, take your luggage to bell services and they will give you a claim check. When your room is ready, you can either pick up your luggage from bell services or call them from your room and they will bring it to you. You can also have bell services at AoA transfer your luggage to the GF if you prefer to head to a park first thing instead of going to the GF first.

Most DISers report that you shouldn't expect your luggage before 5pm if the resort is transferring, so, if you need it before then it would be best to drop it at GF...

Yup, it's what turned us off to splits (one if the things).... Luggage isn't till 3pm and mostly later....we never use a car at WDW so that option was out for us ..... Take it with you, deposit it at Bell Services a d when your room is ready, call and you're all set.... We really missed our groceries and beverages the most... Being resort less for the day wasn't fun either.

Last summer we switched from Pop to Saratoga and they had brought our bags to our room by 2:15

We did a four-way split stay in January (just 2 adults, one of whom has always had an obsession with hotels). We didn't have a car, so we just strolled by the bell hops after checking out and they tagged our bags for transfer (takes less than 5 minutes).

WLV to BWV: Bags were there when we checked in around 3:30pm
BWV to AoA: Bags were there when we checked in around 4:00pm
AoA to Poly: Bags were NOT there when we came by at 2. Our room wasn't ready until around 3:30 and our bags didn't arrive until about 4:30.

This was the second week of January though, so there were definitely a lot less people around than most times a year. Im not sure if that's a good thing for you (More visitors = more staff) or a bad thing for you (More visitors = more bags).

Good luck!

Yes, Disney will transfer your luggage for you :). Luggage delivery is usually between 1-3 pm, but can vary depending on the time of year and how busy it is. As others have posted, some have received their luggage before 3:00, while others didn't see it until 4:00 or 5:00. If you need your luggage early, it's probably best to take it to the GF yourself and leave it with bell services.
