Hi everyone!! My mom and I were discussing which bags we were planning on checking. I used to have an American Tour. that was around a 25 and I would be close to 50lbs but I would never go over it. For my birthday I got a set of luggage, a 28, 19, and a small duffle bag which I plan on taking the 28 in May but is there any website that can tell me around how heavy the bag is without anything in it so I can somewhat tell? I'm 22 and tend to overpack, especially shoes lol and we have considered buying a scale because I dont want to be the family that is embarassed at check-in because of a bag being over weight.
We are using DME so I guess technically I could pack the 2 bags with wheels to spread stuff out and then have more room to take my goodies home since I'm not really dealing with my bags except to get from home to airport and then from airport to home.
If anyone knows that would be great thanks!!

just in case you want to lighten the load some day in the future

I payed it, but complained. I talked to employees at the gate, and they recommended going back to talk to a supervisor. I think the guy checking me in was the supervisor (unsure, but his uniform was different). So needless to say I was very irate! I called Delta on cell phone while waiting to board, and they agreed that was their policy. I said it did not say on any sign or the jacket that held my ticket that you compute the dimension by L+W+H, only for carry-on, but I got nowhere. Finally, I gave it one last shot when we landed in Pittsburgh, and the woman there agreed that it was a suitcase (she said they usually only enforce this if it is an usual thing, like a large box) and since I was not charged that when I left PIT, she refunded my money. I sent a letter to Delta complaining about the employee in Savannah, and praising the employee in PIT. I've traveled with that suitcase before, and never had a problem. But long story short, you may want to measure the 28" one, and if the length + width + depth is more than 62", you may want to reconsider using it on a Delta flight!
I think they were under $10 each. Sorry about your ankle. I've sprained my left ankle several times. Nothing like going to the Halloween costume ball in college wearing an aircast. Ugh. Hope you heal well for your trip! Supportive shoes are a must!
