I am bringing a backpack & a carry on rolling piece of luggage with me to WDW. I could not get the Wilderness Lodge for my entire stay, so I need to hop resorts a few days after I arrive.

Now, my transfer day is the Sunday after Thanksgiving and with alot of people checking out to head home, I'm concerned about letting the resorts transfer my luggage. Not that they would lose my bag, just that it would take a long time to transfer it.

How long does it take for the transfer? If I bring my bag to the bell desk early in the morning, when will it actually get transfered to the WL? Because my bag is one of those that fit above the plane seat, would there be a problem bringing it on board a bus to the Magic Kingdom, then grabbing the boat to the WL? What is the cost of taking a cab from the Caribbean Beach to the WL? Do they have cabs waiting or do I need to request one ahead of time? I'd like to get checked into the WL early, then just store my luggage and head for the MK.

Thanks in advance for your help!:teeth:

Can anyone get my countdown clock to move faster?????

the cost of a taxi would be no more than $20. they are usually available at the resorts. i would do that since you are right in that it will be a busy day. however, if you do chose to let wdw handle the luggage transfer, do not expect your bags until the afternoon. the idea of taking them on the bus w/you would probably work as we have seen folks in the parks w/the rolling backpacks which is similar to the piece of luggage you will have. hope this helps!

Terk, my luggage was misplaced when we had WDW move it. Making a long story short, the resort we were moving from insisted that they ahd delivered it to the resort we were moving to, and it took over four hours for them to locate it. (It was found still at the original resort.) We will never do that again, too stressful and IMHO the peace of mind is worth the $15 cab fare.

Thanks for your comments. Have changed from a carry on to a larger suitcase (for many reasons) and I think I would rather grab a cab to the Wilderness Lodge, than have them transfer my suitcase. I think where it's going to be such a busy and hectic day at the resorts with people checking out to go home, that I would be more comfortable just bringing the suitcase myself. I'm an early riser as well and had planned on checking out of the Caribbean Beach early, shoot over to the WL and do an early check-in (know the room won't be ready yet), store my suitcase and head for the parks. This way I know I've checked in and my suitcase is sitting there waiting for me when I return and I can realx and enjoy myself.

Thanks again!!

I am transferring from CSR to the WL the Sunday after Thanksgiving. I thought we were told that they would transfer us with our luggage. If that is not true, I think we will take a cab also. I would hate to be without my luggage until late afternoon! Thanks for the info!

Gretchen,

Disney will transfer your luggage (not you) from one Disney resort to another at no charge. You have to get yourself to and from the resorts. The problem with the luggage transfer is that (and I called on this) they will pick up your luggage, but cannot guarentee delivery time before 3pm. Since it is such a busy weekend, I'm just going to bring my luggage there myself. I'm up at the crack of dawn anyway (body is used to getting up early and can't tell if it's a weekend or vacation), so I'm just going to grab a cab over to the Wilderness Lodge, check-in (know the room won't be ready at that time), put my suitcase in storage and head for the Magic Kingdom (it's an EE day). This way I know it's there and won't have to worry about waiting for it to arrive or going to the wrong resort.

Have a great trip!!!

I had my luggage transferred from CSR to POR last week and had no problems at all!

Good luck!
