We are staying at the Dolphin for one night on our upcoming Disney trip before checking into our new home CCV..

Question- Will they transfer our luggage to our DVC resort or no? We have never stayed on Starwood Property before (aka.. Swan/Dolphin).

On move day:
Call Bell Services and have them come pick-up your luggage and refrigerated items. Be sure to inform them that you have items to keep cold.
Tell them where you are transferring too.
If you are using one of the DPs, be sure to checkout of the Dolphin.
Check-in to your new resort.
Go do whatever you want that day.
After getting your room text and you are back in it (items are not at your new resort until 2 - 4 PM), call Bell Services to have the items delivered to your room.
NOTE: You must be in the room for the pick-up and delivery. Tips expected.
If you want to go straight to the parks and not go to the resort first to check-in and not get the text, yes you can do that.

Really? The transfer from Swan/Dolphin to a Disney resort? 2 completely different companies.

I was wondering about that, too. Maybe someone will chime in who actually did this successfully. Until then, I remain skeptical.

True, they're different companies. But they do the transfer thing to/from the Swolphin just as if it were between 2 Disney resorts. Not an issue.

We moved from BWV to Dolphin and our bags were transferred no issue. I have read on the Swan/Dolphin thread on the resorts board of many others doing the same, in both directions.

@kboo did this exact thing on a recent trip; Swolphin—->DVC.

Worth a read as the process was painless enough that she mentioned being open to doing it again.

I would totally do it again. One thing I would do differently: since we had a 4pm checkout from the Swolphin, I would check at the bell desk and let them know in the AM when I planned to bring my bags to the bell desk. It turned out it wasn't a problem at all, but at least some of the bell desk guys thought they only did 1 luggage transfer a day in the early afternoon, so I had a little bit of agita until someone else at the bell desk said that OF COURSE it was no problem.

This was our second time staying at the Dolphin and our first time on points; we really enjoyed it. The hotel is a little more tired and worn looking than most of the DVCs I have seen, but you can't beat the price. I had been looking for an EP resort (BWV or BCV butwe felt like prices are too high given the 2042 end date), and now we can wait and see whether we really "need" those BWV/BCV points after all. Or, on the times we really really want a kitchen, rent points.

Also - you didn't ask - but no DME to Dolphin, so you'll need to make your own arrangements for transportation to the Dolphin. Enjoy!
