Luggage tips please, what are you carrying??

OK, so I read on Airtran that aircraft operated by Skywest will not accept wheeled luggage as a carry on. So, in that case I was wondering what luggage to get? I have 3 that have the wheels and meet the requirements, but fear getting a plane that will require I check them. I do not want to check any luggage....too many negative past experiences. So, what are you carrying on??? THANK YOU!!!

Will they gate check wheeled bags? When I fly USAir through their express service, wheeled carry on bags are gate checked to go under the plane at no charge.

Did you check the Skywest website to see what size bag they will accept for carry-on purposes? It sounds as though they have limited or no overhead compartment space and the bag may need to fit under the seat.

Check the dimensions on the web site before you purchase anything. And consider borrowing a bag from someone, unless you plan to fly this airline again soon.
