We are sailing on the Dream in July. Today I got the luggage tags in the mail.

There are 5 of us. 2 adults- Myself and my sister and my three grandkids. We received 4 luggage tags - Mine has my name printed twice, on 2 tags, and the other 2 tags have my name and my sister's name on them.

It will work out we will just have 4 bags, as 2 of my grandkids will share a suitcase, but why send 4 luggage tags for 5 people?

Your name is on all of them because that's the name on the reservation.

It looks like they sent you two tags for each adult and none for the kids. Maybe that's normal? I've never cruised with kids.

Mystery Solved!. They sent a separate envelope to my grandkids address with their tags. I just assumed they would all come to me. My sister was a recent substitution for another family member that had to drop out, so I guess they didn't have her address so sent hers with mine.

We are sailing out of Civitavecchia this Saturday, We have 2 staterooms and only received 1 tag per person. That's the first time we received less tags than needed, usually we have extra. I'm glad to see the porters can issue new tags at the port.

If you have noted their address on the reservation, the tags are sent to them directly unless you call DCL and tell them specifically to send them all to your home address.

I received tags in the mail today for an upcoming cruise. Same situation --- we received half as many tags as we have always received. We used to receive two tags per person. This time we received a single tag for each person.

Are you sure they aren’t folded together? They aren’t double sided.
Yep I checked a couple times to make sure, we only received 1 tag per person. Plus the envelope they were sent in was cheaper and only included a single card with our sailing information. It was different than any cruise previously.

We just got one per person for an upcoming cruise. We'll just ask for more with bell services as needed.

I was wondering it it's DCLs "subtle" way of saying "We're expecting 1 bag per guest." I've seen people with multiple bags on cruises of less than 7 days.
Good one!

Or based on their assessment during luggage onboarding, they realized most passengers are using only one luggage tag.

I bet in the future, DCL will start charging for any “checked” bag over one. Like the airlines . .
They would never dare. 😂 They tried to charge for parking at their resorts in Florida and that idea failed miserably. Therefore, the same will happen if they begin charging for luggages that exceed one.

Sidenote: I was on the transatlantic last month, and you won’t believe it—two different families were actually relocating to Portugal! They used DCL to move themselves and all their luggage and boxes.

I had no idea that was even an option!

Typically it's not. I suppose as long as you don't mind sharing your room with multiple boxes, luggage, whatever, it can be done.

Creative! Cunard goes back and forth between NYC and London almost every week. And they will take pets (a limit I think of 6 booked per cruise). People with dogs that won’t fit under the seat can sail with their pets! (In a kennel).

I moved to Australia once and sent things by USPS. It’s gotten ridiculously expensive. I can see literally “shopping” them on a cruise!

Can you actually get off in the middle of a cruise? (Assuming the chip shopped in Lisbon?)
