I have read that you have to put out your luggage on the last night for your room steward to collect but i would rather carry it off myself in the morning..is that allowed? If it is where do i have to go to have customs inspect it or whatever they do lol

Yes you can do "Express walk off" where you take your own luggage, you have to be prepared to depart the ship when they announce it. Also you have to have your customs declaration filled out and ready to present when you debark the ship. Remember that you won't have any assistance from porters or crew members with your luggage until after you leave the ship and pass through customs, so be prepared to handle it all yourself.

Sorry for the dumb question but do they announce it before our assigned breakfast time or is it after everyones meal times are done?

The express walk off is the fist thing in the morning like 7:30, so im not sure if you be able to get breakfast with all your luggage :confused3

I'm pretty sure you could carry it off whenever you leave. I think express walkoff is for those with an urgent need to be off the ship early. But I've seen nothing preventing you from carrying it off whenever you would like.

But dragging big luggage isn't easy! Farr easier to prepare for the last night during the cruise. That involves putting dirty clothes in the luggage as you go, packing things you don't need anymore as you go, knowing what you're wearing to dinner/show/etc the last night, knowing what you're sleeping in, and knowing what you're disembarking in, and setting it ALL out (including shoes) in a place it can't get accidentally packed. Then you're all ready to pack the rest up, put bags outside the door by the prescribed time, and meet up with it again just before you get to the customs people.

I have always carried my luggage off the ship. Its really not that bad. By the time I would have eaten breakfast, gone back to the room to grab my luggage, the majority of all the early, early morning crowds have already gotten off te hip. So I just walk off. I'm usually off by 8am at the absolute latest. I have more piece of mind if I have my luggage with me when leaving the ship.

You can carry your luggage off yourself no matter what time you leave the ship. But, be aware you'll have to haul your luggage around during breakfast and then getting down through the terminal. You will be required to leave your luggage outside of whichever MDR you dine in in the morning.

Alternatively, you can leave your luggage in your stateroom and go eat at Cabanas, as long as you get back to your stateroom and retrieve your luggage by 8AM. We generally finish packing in the morning, head up to Cabanas for breakfast around 7:30, then go back and fetch our luggage and leave the ship. Easy peasy..

So as long as we are out of stateroom by 8 am we can eat at assigned restaraunt or cabanas for breakfast? Do i need to hang do not disturb sign out till i return or they wont enter till after 8?

Technically, they won't enter the room until 8:00, but it's hit or miss, whether the room host will start "checking" the rooms in order to get started as soon as possible cleaning it.

We've always just carried our luggage off ourselves. After we've eaten breakfast. Basically, we try to stay on board as long as we can!

I can't remember what we did with our bags during breakfast. I'm pretty sure we just took them with us and left them outside the dining room in the designated area.

True, but we prefer not to inconvenience our stateroom host on that last morning. They are busy enough trying to get ready for their new guests.

If we don't have to be out of the room til 8 a.m., how is it inconveniencing the stateroom host to keep our luggage in the room til 8 a.m.? He/she has plenty of empty rooms to work on before we vacate right on time.

We're usually out of the room a few mins before 8 a.m. but hauling our carry-on stuff to the dining rooms is more of an inconvenience to the other passengers than it is to keep our stuff in our state room during breakfast. There's also the option of sending someone up to Cabanas and bringing back breakfast for the rest of the family. Or eating when we get to the airport.

We had the second seating breakfast during our first cruise, and just took our 2 suitcases with us to the MDR for breakfast. No problem.

When we do express walk off - we eat at cabanas, come back to the room and get our luggage and join the rest of the people walking off.

When we do regular departure, we take our luggage to the mdr and after breakfast leave the ship. It is actually easier to let them take the bag the night before but we did not feel like rushing around and packing the last night on one of our cruises.

Sorry, wasn't trying to offend. The stateroom hosts keep an eye out on debarkation morning, and I would guess they usually assume when people have left their cabin to go to breakfast that they will not be back. I tend to plan pretty carefully, so luggage does go out in the hall the night before debarkation, and carry-ons are kept to a minimum.

Yep. Carryons, too.

I would hang the sign. I've never done it as I have no faith in our ability to be back on time lol, but if I were with a friend who is great with time management, I would do it and hand the sign. AND talk to the attendant if I saw them.

They'll have plenty of other peoples' rooms to get to. I think that most people get out entirely before 8, so they can just prioritize those rooms over someone who has the DND sign up.

Big fan of the express walk-off. Especially when renting or driving your own car..gets you off the boat so much earlier and really avoids alot of crowds.
