Has anyone done luggage only transfers? We are leaving this Saturday 10/02 on the Magic and I'd like to know if we can purchase luggage transfers just one way from the upon disembarkation port back to the MCO airport.

I read on another thread that someone has done this. I'm going to call Disney and see what they say. I'd love to hear your experiences. Thanks

We did this in January as we were flying on USAIR and they had a desk set up at the port. It didn't cost anything and they also gave us our boarding passes at the same time. I have, however, been informed that they do not provide this service any longer unless you are using the Disney Transfers, so I strongly suggest you call DCL to confirm. We used a porter and he knew exactly where to go for the drop off and they just loaded the luggage into a big box truck. Good luck.

I called 1-800-395-9374 (the number in our cruise docs) and was told by two separate agents that there is no luggage transfer. The only way they will transfer your luggage is if you have a Disney Transfer. I wanted to buy one for $25.00 so we could check our bags at the port with the airline when the cruise is over. The agent said there is a two bag limit for each transfer purchased so this doesn't help either unless we purchase two transfers for four bags.

The agent also informed me the airlines at the port won't let you check in your bags unless your flight is within four (4) hours. She said it's only for people leaving right away. Anyone have any first hand experience with this rule?

I can understand this since the luggage is carried back on Disney busses and they have to plan accordingly.

There are 7 of us (two families) sharing a limo to and from the airport. We thought it would be nice to have the luggage out of the way and checked in with the airlines before we head back to the airport. Oh well. Next time I think we'll do Disney transfers.

I would also like information about luggage transfers. Our flight from MCO will not leave until 3 or later the day we depart and I would hate to have to drag luggage around until we can check it in.

Thanks!

I can only tell you what we did on our Sept. 2003 cruise, on the Magic. We did have Disney transfers. We flew with Song (Delta) which has check in at the port. We got off the ship about 9 am, were able to check our luggage at the port check in for a 4:30pm flight, and that was more than 4 hours. I was told that they WILL NOT let you check your bags at the port if you have a flight before noon. This may have changed in the last year. Maybe a more recent cruiser can update?
