Searching for some new luggage options as our kids get older. Our son is almost 8 and had a small pottery barn kids suitcase but only good for about 2-3 nights now especially in winter. Amy suggestions for a good bag for a boy to grow into for next several years.

I would look at a mid size rolling duffel bag. That is typically what many teen /college age boys like to use. My oldest collage age son has a large one that he uses a lot and enjoys. I have even used it a few times over my traditional style set. DS has a rather small one but we plan to upgrade him soon. Should have done that for Christmas.

Check into the ebags motherload 25" wheeled duffle. I bought 3 of them this year for my kids (2.5,10, & 13). They have so much room in them they could take their pillows. Also when you buy an ebags bag they have a lifetime warranty on them. Somehow on our last flight the support rods got knocked out of whack and poked through the fabric. Ebags sent me a new suitcase free of charge and told me to keep the other one. Here's the link ebags. I bought them at $140 a piece. Oh and the other thing that I wanted to add is that they come in many other colors besides the 2 that are shown now. I'd wait until after Christmas for them to restock.

Our whole family uses Red Oxx. They are expensive, but totally worth it. Lifetime guarantee (they are a will item), American made, great for car travel or plane travel, multitude of styles and colors, fairly lightweight (important for air travel), roomy, good for a little, great for a lot, good for all ages.

We have had Ebags Motherlode, you can pack sooo much it could tip a 40lb limit some airlines have if its a teen girl, a boy should be fine. I got ours with a code, online coupon discount and free shipping for a lot less.

I also have a Disney Donald bag, Heys for $70 I think it was AaA , Amazon, or overstock.

Ebags in general is fantastic. My personal favorite luggage is Tumi but that's pretty ridiculous in terms of price. Great quality, but the prices give me a heart failure sometimes!!

The other company my husband loves is timbuk2. Very functional and durable. Also pretty cool in terms of styling.

Red Oxx bags don't have wheels. I wouldn't consider any suitcase I had to carry!

OP, for a kid your son's age, I'd look at a discount place like TJ Maxx or Marshall's and get him a carry on sized bag with wheels. Unless you do a lot of traveling every year, It's not worth the money to invest in a really good suitcase.
