luggage handling upon arrival at the airport

We're flying into OIA and doing the 3 day land/4 day sea vacation. My question is...since we're going to the hotel first for the land portion of our trip, will we be responsible for getting our own luggage from baggage claim or will the reps from Disney be getting it and loading it on the bus? This is the only part of our trip that I'm confused about. Any help would be appreciated!

If you booked the land and sea as a package with Disney you will receive your KTTWC and information when you check in to the Hotel. They will instruct you as to the time you should have your luggage outside of your room door. DCL will pick up your luggage and you will not see it again until it arrives to your stateroom late afternoon or early evening.

We booked our land/sea package with DCL but rented a van for our transportation. We were responsible for transporting all of our luggage around. That was fine with us. The cost of the rental plus parking at the port was cheaper then DCL transportation.

Thanks for the quick response. I still have a question about getting our luggage immediately after we get off the airplane. We did book through DCL. Are we responsible for getting our luggage when we get off the plane or does someone from DCL take care of getting it from the terminal to the bus?

Mkauffman, if you purchased the Disney TRANSFERS as part of your package then the DCL reps WILL get your bags and transport them to the resort for you. You do not need to pick them up at baggage claim.

If you did NOT purchase Disney transfers then you will need to pick up your own bags and transport them yourselves.

Hi,

We booked the 3 land/4 sea also and we added a day to the land portion.
We purchased Disney transfers but instead of the bus meeting us at the airport, we will have to use the Mears shuttle. So I believe we are responsible for getting our luggage when we arrive at MCO. Do we still need to put the luggage tags on at this point or do we wait until we leave for the cruise?

Jeanie, you are correct, you will pick up your own bags in that circumstance. Do not put the luggage tags on until you leave your bags out for pick-up at the resort to transport to the port.
