Luggage from WDW to Airport???

My return flight departs at 8:40am with AirTran. So my DME bus will leave BWV at around 5:40am ?? ( I think its 3 hours before the flight?)
I'm thinking I should check my bags with Disney the night before?
That would give me a little more time in the morning to drag myself to the bus knowing that my luggage is already taken care of.
How late are they open for me to do that?
Also, how do they handle the $15 per bag fee for AirTran?

I hate having to leave so early but flight options were limited..

You can't check your luggage the night before - you can only check it (and yourself in for your flight) between three and twelve hours before your flight departure time. The RAC desk is open from 5 or 5:30 AM to 1/1:30 PM daily.

You also need to be fully checked in, luggage and all, prior to the three hour mark. If the transaction can't be completed, you need to do it all at the airport anyway.

If you are able to utilize RAC - get up in time to check your luggage and you before 5:40 AM - the packet left on/under your door the day before departure will include directions on how to pay the checked luggage fee in advance.

You can't check your bags the night before. The RAC counter closes at about 1pm.
If you are right at the RAC counter when they open at 5am, you should be able to get the bags checked before the 3 hr window. It should take about 10 mins to get them checked. Your DME bus will pick you up between 5:20 and 6...yes, it is usually 3 hrs before flight departure but that can vary 15 mins either way. You may get lucky and get a slightly later pickup time. Even if you get a bit earlier, you should be able to check the bags before heading to the bus. But be sure you are at the bus stop, all ready to go, about 10 mins before pickup time.

Unfortunately, you are unable to use RAC to check your bags any sooner than 12 hours before your flight and you have to have the process completed no later than three hours before your flight. Since the RAC desk only is open from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., that means you can't do it the day before and basically you would have to be in line at 5:00 a.m. when the desk opens to use it at all.

Since you need to be at the bus pick-up point about 15 minutes before your pick up, that timing is tight but doable unless you have a long line. Your only other alternative is to just drag the bag to the bus stop at 5:25 a.m. and deal with check in at the airport.

Sounds like I'll take the bags myself. Plenty of time to kill at the airport anyway and it shouldnt be to crowded at that time?

I didnt realize RAC closed that early.

I'm glad you asked the question Pop. We will have a 9:00 a.m. return flight and I was trying to figure out what we could do with our checked luggage. With RAC opening at 5:00, we should be okay to be able to check in with RAC and not worry about our bags, boarding the ME bus around 6:00 a.m. -- Yuck.
