Getting ready to go in 15 days!
All of a sudden, I do not know how to plan packing. Last year, our luggage was all checked and it took an hour and a half at MCO to get it because of the daily afternoon tstorms and the fact that the airline luggage employees cannot unload the plane with a lightning threat. Since there is practically a tstorm every day in August, we want to not check our bags this year. But is it going to be possible to carry on everything we need? Two adults, a 14 y/o son and a 5 y/o daughter and 9 days of clothes. I will not do laundry on vacation. So we will need wheeled luggage to carry it through the airport, but the largest sizes the airlines allow seem so small. We could have two carry ons each.. Am I crazy to try to carry it all on? Any suggestions on good luggage that will be allowed on the plane that will fit a lot?
Thanks:bounce: :crazy: :wave2:

Nine days worth of clothes seems like a lot to try and fit on carry-on luggage. Have you considered shipping some things to your resort ahead of time? This is discussed some on the camping forum. I have never done it, but have read alot of posts where people do. I don't think you would have any problems if you are staying at a WDW property. This way you could ship snacks too.

Check luggage. If you are not an experienced "carry on only" kinda person then don't even try it on a vacation. 9 days and no laundry is ALOT OF CLOTHES!!!! Also remember you may wnat to change clothes in the evening for a dinner out or such. That makes even more clothes. You are allowed essentially one 22" roll a board per person and one smll personal item (backpack, purse). Will DD5 be able to manage her bag? I doubt it.

Yes if there is lightening then the baggage handlers may be delayed but in general MCO luggage service is very good. Don't let one bad experience dictate every trip in the future.

I travel for work and intentionally by light packable clothes so I can limit myself to a carry on suitcase but when I go on vacation my luggage volume seems to double. Shoes are the worst culprit of space hogs in any bag.

I would rather do laundry on vacation than lug way too many clothes. I usually throw a load in and then swim while it washes. It is so much easier to me. I always carry on my luggage, I have one rolling pilots case and then carry a Disney tote bag (like 20" x 14") that has my curling iron and other must have things. I like traveling light especially with all the security checks etc...

I refuse to do laundry on my vacation, so we just check everything. Although it does rain frequently in FL, I don't think you should have the same problem this year. We visit Orlando every summer and have never had luggage delayed due to rain.

Enjoy your trip!!::MickeyMo
